I'm in the process of ordering suspension for my 96 C1500 RCSB from ridetech. What i am looking at is the streetgrip kit. There are 2 options. I believe both kits are identical with the exception of the spindles. One kit says 1.25" brake rotor thickness while the other says 1" brake rotor thickness. My truck has the 1" rotors but I was wondering if I could order the 1.25" kit instead and then just upgrade the brakes? Or is there other differences in the spindle geometry between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton? Would I have to change out control arms or anything else to get the spindle to fit?

Are you sure your rotors are 1"? I was under the impression from '92 on that they went to all 1.25" rotors. Regardless, you should be able to use the larger rotors and upgrade the brakes, without having to change out the control arms.

I actually don't have the original rotors to measure them. I just assumed that all 1500's had the 1" rotors. Thanks for taking the time to answer

Yeah, you should already have the 1.25" rotors on a 96'.

I'm also in the market for this same kit. They raised the price a few months ago to $1,800 from $1,500. Have you seen a better price anywhere?

1500's:

88-91 regular cabs got regular brakes with 1" rotors (1.25" HD brakes optional)
88-91 extended cab got HD brakes standard
92-up regardless of cab design they got HD brakes standard

No the best I could find was 1800$. I'm in Canada so with import fees, taxes, exchange rate it was 3700 with the front sway bar from ridetech and the street grip kit. If your in the states consider yourself lucky lol

Ouch!

I had emailed Ridetech about a discount, never heard back though, I guess I should have bought this last year.
