I wonder if GM P/N 88861800 is conventional or synthetic?

Looking through the Valavoline specs it seems that the Valvoline equivalent is intended for manual trans only. I know the GM fluid (GM 12345349) I used to put in my NV3500 didn't look or smell anything like ATF.

Not sure if it's synthetic or conventional based, but I think the 88861800 is basically Dexron 3 in a different bottle with some other additives. If you check the contents on the back of the bottle in that Amazon listing the first thing on the list is "Automatic Transmission Fluid."

I would assume so, I stick to GM fluids so I have no experience with it personally though.

Dexron VI has a lower viscosity that Dexron III, and I assume that's why they didn't want it in transfer cases. None of the benefits of VI listed in that bulletin matter for a transfer case.

4wd shifter rod question. Saw someone say the 4l60 and 4l80 are different length rods. If I need to swap do I just force em outta the plastic clip?

Having a hell of a time with this output shaft seal replacement. It appears that the current seal is recessed inside. I believe it should have had a lip like the replacement seal I purchased. can’t seem to remove it with any seal tool with possibly causing damage to the surrounding area. Has anyone seen this or have any tips/tools suggestion that would be helpful?

seal replacements like that can use the sheet metal screw method. Drive a few screws into the exposed part of the seal, then pull on the screw heads with needle nose vise grips. Only drive them in shallow so you dont get into the bearing behind the seal. You should start a new thread after searching first, since this is a thread hijack.
Good luck

You're still struggling with that seal? You clearly haven't tried everything that was suggested to you before.
