Follow up to February brake issue, rebuilt every component of rear brakes and replaced ABS module. Everything new, no more brake dash light. Getting some occasional scraping noise from the drums now, it sounds like shoes might be touching more than they should might need adjusting.

Finally getting around to detailing interior. I have some black speaker fabric and I’m thinking of ways to attach it to dash speaker grilles without too much molestation of the grille.
here’s what it looks like mocked up to give you an idea of what I’m thinking, just need to think of a way to secure it so it looks nice and tight

Truck has a friction noise from the rear end only when turning right above 5 mph. Sounds like it’s coming from the driver side rear. When you turn right weight shifts to the driver side. What would cause a scraping sound in the driver rear only when turning right? I’m thinking wheel bearing? Or something in the rear axle? Any thoughts?

GM shop that did brakes, messed with drums and back plate for a few minutes today and sound is gone. Backing plate was scraping somehow, all fixed now, no cost

Plus free car wash!

now on to the issues of rear diff input seal, front diff input and output seals, valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, tranny and xfer case output seals, and oil pan gasket+ rear leaf spring shackle bushings ...at 28 years old let’s just accept the fact that every old rubber part eventually needs to be replaced....fun

Scuffed surface rust and rattle canned spare wheel and air filter cover, new air filter, oil change, cleaned up engine bay a bit with a light mix of Whip It and Then lightly wiped down with Back to Black, washed truck, spray turtle wax, adjusted headlights, just puttering around the garage messing with stuff. Truck is running great, no leaks, no warning lights, nothing much to do except clean it or drive it
