So, if I understand correctly, I basically have a choice of either replacing the entire WW motor which requires splicing in a new plug to fit the plug in the new motor, OR buying a new board for the old motor, right?

Am I correct in saying the old-type motor is not set up to provide intermittent wipers?

If if old type does support intermittent wipers, is that motor more reliable than the newer WW motor?

Thanks.

You do not have to change the plug, it remained the same. The old style motor would support intermittent wiper if you installed a pulse MODULE. The old (first style) pulse MODULE is very hard to find. That is why I switched to the newer style wiper motor with the pulse BOARD. The old style motor lasted me 32 years as did the pulse MODULE in my '88 K3500.

I went ahead and purchased a new WW motor and plan on installing it this weekend. Thanks everyone for your input.

I found the first two pictures on the internet and I I believe they are for the 1/2 ton truck. The bottom picture is the wiper motor from my truck. I do not see where a pulse card would fit in my wiper motor. If you know otherwise, buying the card would be cheaper for me than buying a new motor. Thanks

the cover that was removed in the picture should be the pulse board- just changed mine (had the same issues as yours), the Dorman unit comes with new screws as well

Actually, I never found a pulse board in the old WW motor that went bad-same one in pic without cover. There were only gears under the cover. I was told by another member that this motor didn’t have the intermittent feature.

I replaced the WW motor today and installed a new washer pump, too. My windshield washer nozzles are gone so I ordered some on line, Doorman I believe. About $24 for the pair. They were more expensive than those for any other make of vehicle. I imagine the nozzles use the same hose-inline with each other. Please let me know you someone knows otherwise. looks like I’ll need to buy extra piece of hose , the one that goes between the two nozzles.

Just an update... I purchased a new WW motor and a WW washer nozzle and installed. It works great. Thank you evilunclegrimace for your history lesson on the types of motors

Hey guys, If I wanted the simplest wiper motor I assume I should look for a 88-91 model? The reason is; I want to use a very basic switch to have only a slow speed and a fast speed. I was also hoping to get a washer fluid pump as well. What would the wiring be? I have the manual but just trying to figure it out...also I grabbed a wiper motor from the yard but it looks it be a pulse integrated unit?
Thanks again guys,
