Shove a wedge in the top of the door and drop a coat hanger in and try to fish the lock up?
Probably too easy but...if you have an aftermarket sliding rear window you can usually pop the latch loose without tearing it up, then “just” climb in through the window. I worked with a guy that used to do that with his all the time.

Well thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Still learning this truck.

So the problem was I forgot and left the dome light on the other night after I went out and was fooling with the ac blend door actuators a little. Killed the battery.

Fast forward thru the issue, this thread, and solution. Got hood open and put jumper cables on and left there with the other car running for 10 minutes or so, tried the key fob. Nothing....

Left it another 5 minutes and went out and still nothing. Randomly got a wild hair and did a "program" push on the fob (just held down both buttons) on a whim and boom, locks cycled!

I'm in the truck! Battery was dead dead. Another 10 minutes of running with the jumper leads on and finally she turned over strong. Removed jumper cables and let the truck run 15 min or so and then took on another 15 minute drive.

Hope that gave it enough charge to start next time.

Conclusion: if you lost power and your fob does not want to work after restoring power, hold both lock and unlock buttons at same time to "reset" the fob functions.

Noted thanks. Been putting off a bunch of maintenance work with all the garbage weekend weather we've had this past month so if tomorrow is nice will get it back out for an extended drive. Only have a 12v trickle for a moto/mower battery.

That'll work just leave it on for a few days and get a hydrometer if it's not a sealed battery. I have an 8amp 6/12 volt charger, probably 35 years old, doesn't even have an on/off switch but, it still works great! I'll charge my truck's battery overnight once a month or so just to top it off. I'm afraid the battery is getting weak though, volts drop down to ~8 when starting cold but, the date sticker on it is from 2015, not bad for being in the desert, ha ha.

Edit: my alternator is over 12 years old too!

Your batteries last longer in the desert. Gulf Coast humidity kills them in 3 years tops in Houston, from my experience. But the newer style alternators last loads longer. I think the one on my truck is original, don't recall having to replace it on the other Burb, if so that one lasted over 250 thou

Apologies for continuing the drift off-topic a little bit more but anyone who is looking for a really nice battery that lasts a long time should check out Odyssey Extremes. They're expensive, but I run them in both of my trucks and they still perform like new after almost seven years. The one in my red truck also powers a large stereo system and is beat on pretty regularly. Four year free replacement warranty, and they're available in whatever combination of top or side terminals you want.

This is the specific model I run in my '97s, 34/78-PC1500-DT. The DT stands for dual terminal, top and side.

Around here, all the repair shops expect a battery to last ~3 years, 4 max. The heat kills them. That's why in some cars the battery is isolated from the engine with insulation.
