And shackles are in. Since I’m doing this in my driveway and the truck isn’t currently moveable this is the best picture of the new stance I could get.

Is that a little kicker I see peeking out from behind that stock speaker grille? Yes... yes it is...

And stereo is in. Although I can’t get it to turn on and off with the key. Used a fuse tap on the radio circuit on the fuse block (that oddly had a fuse in it) so I was thinking I’m in the wrong hole. What fuse is ignition only hot?

And I guess now it’s time to start getting things ready to pull the motor. When I put the new one in I’ll have to reuse the throttle body and the distributor out of the old motor so one by one as I pull stuff off I’ll rebuild that stuff. I have the stuff here to do the distributor (same reason stereo and shackles got done first, I had the stuff in hand, I’m waiting on some tools and parts to get here so I can get the motor out) so it’ll be first. Still need a fuel pressure regulator spring (new motor is gonna need a little more fuel so I’m going to put a silver spring in it) to do the TBI. Also deleting all of the emissions crap as I live in Texas so I don’t have to have it. So I’ll be cutting down a spare factory serpentine setup to do away with the smog pump provision, and for now probably just plugging the ports in the manifold and deleting the EGR. Although I could put the jack mount on the tool box tonight (always carry a farm jack as this truck has steel bumpers they’ll actually work on and at some point I plan to put a tonneau cover on it so it’ll all be hidden.

You can get the AFPR, pressure adapter & gauge from these guys - quality work! Scroll down a little to see them

This is what it looks like on the TB (you'll need to drill through the bottom of the plate to install the thumb wheel)

At the time I took this picture I was running a 28LB spring from a 94-95 7.4L on my 5.7L TB (bored out to 46mm and "Ultimate Mods")

I’m going todoultimate mods as well, but this engine is temporary and when I go back with engine #3 I’m going to need a regulator I can boost reference so the silver spring is the way to go for now. But let the tear down commence!

Throttle body and distributor are out. Pic of burned/jacked up wires on throttle body for my future reference. Time for a nice cold Natural Light and some sleep so I can get the distributor rebuilt tomorrow and hopefully most of that front accessory drive, radiator, and fan shroud out.

Amazing how much room you have to work with the fan shroud out of the way.

Start checking the 'convenience center' with a test light. That's how I found the switched power I'll be using for my seat heater controls. If you have a pull-it-yourself style yard nearby, find a truck with a relatively intact convenience center and rob a bunch of connectors. I have a handful I grabbed for wiring projects on my truck.
