I’ve got an nv3500 from a 91 c1500 2wD. I am currently undergoing a motor and auto to manual swap in my 1988 c1500. After putting in the transmission it slid in with no problem. After further inspection I was able to move the fork all the way back and all the way forward with no resistance. The shaft almost seems too short or the bell housing is too thick because the throwout bearing won’t even touch the pressure plate. It’s about a half of an inch off. Any suggestions?

Have you installed the slave cylinder yet? There should be a good amount of compression when you install that. If your just moving the fork by hand you could just be freaking out over a non-problem.

The small Chevy V6 and 4 cyl use different Getrag/NV3500 transmissions. . Unsure of the exact differences. Bell housing is different
All 4.3 HO and cast iron V8s have same external dimensions. There are differences in throwout bearings. Unsure of clutch specs, but all cast iron V8 clutch and pressure plates interchange. They have different load potential, but will fit.
The best NV3500 are those '94 and later V8 1500. '94/95 and earlier have side slaves (as opposed to ramshead).
You may want to verify correct flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and release arm. Also, release arm/pivot ball is famous for failure. Snout will show one sided wear pattern.
Driveshaft length varies.

Some updates to this thread.

Also, release arm/pivot ball is famous for failure.

after searching around and inspecting
the transmission the pivot ball and clutch fork were in deed wore out. I replaced both from cobra transmissions. So far so good. Looking for a rclb driveshaft now !

It was hard to explain in the beginning. But seeing the pivot ball and fork conditions compared to factory new I see the problem. When moving it by hand it wouldn’t go close enough to the clutch.
