I think it's time for new CATs. I am primarily interested in keeping the exhaust stock, but open to ideas. Looking at the Walker Ultra factory set up (50410) or the Bosal system (0795111).

I'm open to the idea of using the existing exhaust and replacing the CATs only with Magnaflow high flow CATs. The only fly in the ointment is that one of the thick steel flanges is warped ( I honestly have not figured out which one despite using a straight edge and attempting to grind them flat in the past ) and it takes some creative gasket making to seal it every time I separate the two flanges.

What does the GMT400 Brain Trust suggest?

I run a bolt in stainless Magnaflow Y-pipe and cats in my red '97. Pricey, but that's definitely the route I'm going to go if/when my Suburban needs new cats. Nicer looking bends than the factory piece it replaced, no leaks, and it bolted right up.

I just finished installing the complete Magnaflow system. I got the Y pipe and cats then learned the flange wouldn't seal so I purchased a walker piece to connect to the muffler.

it was about $50 with an online discount from Advance Auto then I had it welded in. That worked until the Cat back system arrived and I had a chance to install it.

So for about 3 weeks I was running a Magnaflow Y pipe and cats without a leak or issue. Made a big difference as I had the dreaded P0420 and P0430 codes.

That's exactly what I have on my 1998 C1500 ext cab. Would buy it again for sure! Snagged mine during the winter on Amazon for around $300 PN 23453.

So what did you do? I just ran over a puddle and now my exhaust is very loud and a cat bank 2 code is on, I think the cat is shot and was looking at the Bosal/Walker systems but maybe just a hi flow cat would suffice.
