I was wondering if anyone had any experience installing power doors on a vehicle that was never equipped with power options. Doors will have heated mirrors, Power windows/ door locks and other silverado accessories. I will be working with a 2002 gmt455 cab and chassis model. And i have a good set of all power silverado doors off a 99 suburban. However I failed to take anything of the cab side of the donor vehicle as far as harness or connections, basically just the whole doors. Any input on the topic would be appreciated, im positive its been done, i just need to find the right info.

If your able to access the donor truck go back and remove the harness that goes behind the dash...if said donor truck is gone you could always get another from a u pull. With the harness its stupid easy. Most likely any harness you find wont have the heat option for mirrors so those would need to be done seperate

Look behind the kick panels in the truck you're putting the doors on. GM's been known to use a generic harness specific to these trucks & then just plugged into whatever options the truck was getting. It's been known for these trucks to have all the required wiring for the swap already there. Have never figured out if that was a Canadian or an American build quirk or if it was just kinda random. You might be lucky.
Pulling the factory harness out of a donor can be a bit of a PITA as that was the first part installed before the dash & everyhing else that that requires.
First in, last out.

In the 95-up interior the dash/door/etc. harness is much more complex than the older interior style. For 88-94 the power locks, power windows were "accessory" harnesses that were added on fairly easily. I'd suggest what was already mentioned about getting the harness from the donor truck; the '99 model is probably close enough to your '02 HD that they would be similar enough to be useful.

When I built my 94 HD -> 96-97-98 swap I intended to do power windows but my donor truck was a '97 4-door Yukon and the extra connectors in the harness along with my lack of spare time ended up having me just saying F it and I stuck with the manual accessories as it was just gonna be a shop wrecker.

Totally jealous of your '02 8.1 HD; they're beasts. Stick to the correct fluid in that NV4500 and tend to it quickly if you start getting the 2-3 shift grind; most people just baby them along and end up killing the trans with debris from the synchros.

Oh yeah, ALSO, double-check that your cab's A-pillars have the holes present for the wiring boots. They're probably already there, but if not, you'll want to make a quick template from the donor truck so you can correctly place and cut them on your cab. My '94 3500HD did not have these holes. I'd expect a later model cab to have them as power accessories were more common, but I've seen late model GMT400 fleet trucks missing other critical holes like a non-A/C truck did not have holes in the firewall for the evaporator core lines, so it's possible they left other holes un-punched, too.

Following: I just picked up a pair of 99” Tahoe doors to put on my 98’ C1500. Does anyone know if the wires are in my truck and I can just plug and play? If not, does anyone know where I can get a wire diagram from and wire them up myself?

Sorry for the delay on an update. After going to the junk yard and pulling two complete accessory harnesses, I should be able to help point you in the right direction. I pulled a 96 harness and a 99 suburban harness. For the most part they are identical. If your truck has the harness behind the dash. You should be able to see it plugged in at convenience center under the dash And there should be extra plugs shoved up in the kick panels by the doors. If not, you will need the whole harness. I'll follow up with pictures of everything shortly.

Ill add pictures as i go for archive sake. I'm in the process of gutting one of the harnesses so that i just have the wires i need for my 2 door cab and chassis and I would say it's slightly more difficult then i was expecting.

Below is a few photos of the convenience center plug marked GRY that will be your indication that you have a power window and door lock harness installed back there somewhere. You will notice that my truck has pins in the convenience center for this power harness and not much else. Also my truck was missing fuses marked for power windows and door locks.

Here is photos of fuse box diagram from my 2002 owners manuel and a photo of the complete accessory harness out of a 96 suburban. Its not the one im gutting for my cab and chassis but rather the one im using as a reference for tracing wires. It has lots of things attached to it that make if fairly complex. Including front power seat controls. Rear door switches etc... Most of the rear door stuff seems to be spliced into the main harness. And everything on the two harnesses that I grabbed are incorporated into the factory keyless system box. Which is the last step in my gutting process is deciding whether or not I will be using the factory keyless entry equipment.
