Stumbled on this Forum looking for LS swap info for my crusty old '88 C1500 LWB. Not sure if I'll do the swap, I'm waiting for a price on the donor truck. If the donor is cheap enough I'll do it, otherwise I'll just keep dumping oil in the wheezy old 305 for now. It currently has a 4/6 drop but I'm going to raise it back up a couple inches, 4/6 is too much for the roads I drive it on and it gets used more as a truck these days and with that much drop I can't put much in it without smacking the rear bumper on dips and driveways. Several years a go I swapped in a '92 gauge cluster, had the 700R4 rebuilt and swapped out the 2.73 open rear end for a 3.73 and 3 series posi unit out of a '78 Formula Firebird. Since then it hasn't been driven much so the trans and rear end don't have a lot of miles on them. I'm sure it t would be easier and cheaper to swap in a 350 I already have but I think I'd be happier with the LS motor.
