The molding is cheap get new on amazon. It’s all made by 3M no matter where you buy it. I ground down the tabs and found another ‘98-99 Tahoe to measure from in a parking lot. Looks factory. I also have a spare set of really hard to find OEM “Tahoe” emblems. Took 6 months of ebay hunting to obtain them. The “1500” LMC seems to have a deep supply of still.

LMC had stock 1500 emblems? I've been looking all over but can only find beat up used ones on eBay. Got a link?

The gold bowtie 1500 door emblems are still available new from GM. Part number 15551230 has a 3M tape backing and is designed to be stuck directly onto a painted body panel, part number 15551231 has the two tabs for mounting into the factory molding like in Donald's picture.

Found the LMC ones. Was a lot easier than I thought. Just search emblem on LMC truck and enter your vehicle. Pops right up. Kinda expensive but that's how it goes

So if you drill two holes in the aftermarket molding, the 1500 badge will fit like the original?

None of the ridges on the molding are trimmed or shaved down or anything?
