Page 7 on my build thread titled "my 1994 silverado" use search engine on GMT400 to find it.

Heres pix for those who dont want to search my build thread. That extra 2" length decreases throw effort a lot, and places the ball in a more natural position for your arm.

Get a Hurst aluminum T handle as well. This is just as good of an improvement as adding that little bit of length to the shifter. That weighty aluminum T handle makes it even better, and looks great doin it.
