I would like to put Mark IV heads on my dad's GenV swapped Monte Carlo as you know they outflow the **** out of a GenVI. I don't recall offhand, but want to say it was Victor Reinz who makes the gasket? It has to do with the coolant holes in the gasket itself. That's the rub.

There's a world of difference between the deck surfaces of Gen 5 and Gen 6.

Yes, Victor Reinz (now Mahle) has TWO part numbers for TWO gaskets that fit the right, and left deck surfaces; and are sold to put older heads on Gen 5 blocks. 4918 (right bank) and 4923 (Left bank) are the two gaskets. You'd need one of each, and they're nearly $40 EACH.

They're not needed on Gen 6 blocks.

I just looked-up those part numbers a couple weeks ago, for another thread.

The Mahle aftermarket catalog I found on-line is incorrect, it shows only the 4918 part number, omitting the 4923 altogether.
