I had a 73 Camaro back in the day that had a SBC 400 in it with a 350 crank & camel back heads... basically destroked it to a 377cu. It was wicked fast and I could pull close to 7k rpms with it... was fun to drive but... not super streetable. 400s are strong motors.

I have a block ready to go. But I’ve built a TBI406 for an old truck that I had n was a monster. I’d build one of those over any other small block if I could find or afford any.

I've got a 418 (3.875 stroker bored .020) with 13.5:1 compression set up to run e85 that I have in the back of a Fiero. Once I finally get it running this year, I'll post a thread in the other vehicles section.

The TBI was awesome. I didn’t even put a chip or any type of tuning in it. Drove it back and forth from NYS to DC for bout 6 months, every weekend. It pulled like a freight train till ran outta room. That motor is the reason I bought another one, but this one will have Vortec heads, roller cam, should pull even harder.

I like the 400, but I've never tried to run one with TBI.

Did mine with a Tri-Power...but not in a GMT400.

Photo from ~30 years ago. Trial-assembly. Multiple items changed when actually run, and more changed over the years. All the main items are the same now, though.
