fortunately this is going on an engine that i am building on an engine stand. I have access to all sides. I will upload a picture when I get home from work. This is the pan. I am unsure of the brand at the moment.

thats not the rear main seal , just the oil pan gasket , rear main wraps around crankshaft, just above oil pan , the thick felpro is the way to go on that , don't over tighten bolts, and like a head you must tighten them in sequence

Mine don't, just be sure to glob up the corners by the main caps with some silicone. Don't get stingy either.

I know how to install a gasket. They are well known as being problematic, not all but enough to prove they aren't the answer.

Here is the fitment without the gasket. It is about impossible to get a nut started with the gasket in place. The gasket does fit against the seal housing ok. The gasket does not match the pan. The pictures without the gasket also emphasize the fitment issues between the housing and the pan.

I would use a die grinder to get it close then use RTV with the gasket to seal it up

If it's Chinesium then it'll probably always leak. I had a Ching Chong stamped steel pan on my 289 in my Crown Victoria and it poured the first time I filled the engine with oil. I was lucky enough to slather the outside with silicone and it stopped leaking after that, so you may be able to get away with that too but the trans did come off for that.

looking at pan pictures i would suggest taking pan and seal to a machine shop have them weld and machine the pan to fit properly, it may be costly , but it will cure your fitmet issue

Personally I don't think I'd use it at all, but to each their own.
