So just cut the plugg off and connect it to.the other wire?

Wouldn't you want the Exciter wire hooked to a keyed power source? If it's bridged to a constant power it'll always be "engaged" and basically be a constant draw on ur battery. I've seen diodes mess up and with car off u can hear the alt buzzing trying to turn because it's engaged without engine running.
