Here is Jayne the shop truck. I picked this truck up after wrecking my 98 c1500. I was originally going to swap the vortec out of the 98 into it but decided to keep the little 305 TBI in it because it ran good, but needed the 4l60e rebuilt.

Up to this point I've rebuilt the 4l60e and swapped in a rebuilt 350 I pulled from a 88 K1500. Its certainly been a hard road getting it this far. For now in going to run with what I got and do basic maintenance on it. Next winter maybe I'm going to ls 4l80e swap it. This spring I will be replacing the front end and getting some new tires.

I went through the truck today and checked all the fluids and cleaned it out a bit. Looks like its past time to fix the water neck and replace the thermostat.

I didn't get much done on Jayne this weekend. I did manage to do the 4 hi headlight mod I've been wanting for a while. I had a relay with a pre made pigtail in a junk bin. I fired up the soldering iron and extended the wires a little bit and had it done in short order.

While working on the truck I noticed that the belt needs replaced and is looking rough. So I'll have to add that to the short list. Right now it looks like the belt, thermostat, water neck and a tire rotation are next on the list.

I bought a cheap belt off of ebay. It started cracking at 1500 miles...

Did a little work on the truck today. First I sorted out why radio no longer works. It turns out I need some new speakers. I'm not sure what I'm going to do as far as that goes and getting replacements.

Recently I got another k1500 that needs a motor. While yanking the motor out I saw that it had the makings of a nice dual exhaust system. So I chopped off the rotten mufflers and grabbed everything forward to the manifolds. I took off the old exhaust that came with the 305 and installed the pipes and cats I got from the k1500. Tomorrow I'm going to put some glass packs on it and try to get it out to the axle. As it sits now I'm 3ft short. I have a few left over bits from a square body that might be able to make into some nice turn outs.

I've been taking all the best bits I have and stashing them. I'm getting close to another motor and have been contemplating a 383 with some vortec heads to drop into a truck. I'm still stuck on the long haul for a new front end and tires.

I got a parts order in a few days ago with a few of the maintenance items that I noticed that needed to be addressed. This evening I installed a new serpentine belt, thermostat, and water neck. Everything is moving along well with the shop truck now and its turning into a solid truck.

In the coming weeks I need to get some other things done on it. The exhaust still needs some mufflers and tail pipes to finish off the duals. I'm still waiting for cash to do the front end and tires. I also have some interior bits to change out and have to do something about getting some tunes out of the radio again.

I made more progress today and started finishing the dual exhaust. I had previusously got from the manifolds back to just past the frame crossmember in 2.25" pipe off a k1500 project I started a few weeks back. This go around I got from the bumper to the end of the mufflers in 2.5" pipe plus reducers to get it to mate to the 2.25" pipe off another parts truck I picked up this past week. Lastly I had some 2.25" glass packs left from a square body build I did a few years back. Every thing is cut and fitted up and hung on hangers now just waiting to be welded up tomorrow.

I also managed to get a few other little things done on the inside of the truck today. One thing that has been bugging me for some time is the drivers seat belt has been sticking and frayed badly. I ended up replacing it with the one from the parts truck. I also swapped out the bad factory speakers for some kenwood speakers that were also from the parts truck.
