95 ash tray won't stay closed.....

The whole assembly with the 3 power outlets will close but won't stay closed. It immediately plops back open. I'm assuming there's some sort of spring that tensions it .... ?

Any pics or descriptions that can help me see what needs to be done to keep it closed?

Alright guys, this here is a two parter.
My truck is a 95 GMC c1500 w/t. So, my radio is bare bones an/fm (at least I have fm, I guess, right?). I want to put in the tape head with CD slave. If I get both units, with the connection cable between the two, will it fit right in, and will I have security issues?

Second question is, I see there's a thread for adding aux to the unit. Would the procedure be the same for adding Bluetooth?

Another thought I just had... Could one add XM similarly? Without having the stupid separate xm deal? Like add XM to the unit. Not just having xm in my truck.

about the radio question. On Etsy of all things there is a guy that has OEM Chevy radio’s with Bluetooth and also aux already installed. I think around $300ish I might’ve sending him my radio to add the Bluetooth and aux to mine and replace my light bulbs for around $170. Just putting it out there here is a link

I don't really want to pay 300 bucks for a radio. I'd rather just get a junkyard radio. My biggest question is whether or not it's a direct swap, so long as I get the cable that connects the CD slave to the head

direct swap. I used to have A am/fm cassette and swapped to the CD with no issues.

I'm trying to order a matching dash kit for my 92 C1500... What's the official color of the glove box door? As you can see the current dash kit is a brighter red. Anyone that can point me towards a dash kit part # that matches well I'd be appreciative!

Believe it’s called garnet red.

If you want to paint it instead, the RPO label in the glovebox should have the paint code number. Someone can probably tell you which one it is. On later years, it’s toward the end of the list and ends with the letter “i”.

Thanks for the reply, garnet red is my red option on crutchfield so I'm hoping that's it! I'll check my RPOs later tonight and see what it says too.

Found my RPO code:
47I : INTERIDR TRIM, DK RED (I) (91)

Garnet Red is a different code, so looks like garnet is not my color.. too bad can't find a trim panel as of now!

Just a thought but you might be able to find a darker red paint/dye from someone like SEM that would allow you to paint your existing kit to match.
