Over the year's I see older GMT400's with the regular side mirrors but they slide out to act as tow mirrors. I assume they are modified to slide out. Anyone who knows what I am talking about please tell me is this OE or custom made I would also like to see pictures of anything y'all can find. BTW I am not talking about west coast or east coast mirrors.

My 88 had a normalish looking mirror on one side. It had a thumb screw to loosen that allowed you to slide it in and out. It went away when the subroof from our house landed on it.

I believe I know what you saw. I was at a junkyard a few weeks ago and saw a gmt 400 door laying there. The mirror on it looked like a mix of the factory gmt 400 power mirror and the power extending gmt 800 mirrior, I would’ve grabbed it but there was a big wasp nest on the door (of course) next time I’ll come armed with bee spray
