Well the work has begun on the 97 and let’s just say things have snowballed, I did some trading and it’s getting a entire new drivetrain front to back, ac delete, cammed 5.3, new wiring harness, abs delete, built trans, the works. What I was hoping was only going to take a month at most is going to take a lot longer haha. I still need to pull the 5.3 out of the donor truck but the cam is on order, front to back this truck will be new on the frame where the condenser sits in the core support it will have a tranny and oil cooler.

When all of this is done it will be leaving my hands and going to get a new front suspension and rear bumper installed
I just hope everything works out for this poor thing

Starting to snowball like my project did. Ha although you'll probably be back on the road in no time. Are you planning on installing the engine and dealing with smog before you swap the cam?

What’s smog [emoji23] I haven’t smog this thing is 6 years and I also have some depressing yet exciting news what I thought was a 5.3 ended up being a 4.8 but the money is already spent so the truck is really getting a 4.8 so now the real question is how far can I push a 4.8 before it kicks a rod or breaks a ring land in this truck [emoji23]

I have a stock 4.8 in my '06. My truck is 2wd and light. If you wind the 4.8 up, it screams pretty good. Feels kinda fun in my application.

If I were using it in a 4wd, I would add boost before wasting a dime on any performance parts. But... I'd do the same with a 5.3. There just isn't any bottom end there to push a heavy truck (without rpms) without boost.

Luckily I’m not 4wd so 2wd and the motor will but up in the higher rpm anyways so I think I’ll be good I just need to figure out my wiring situation. I’ll be running my 97 trans for now so I just need to figure out how to pin my truck into the computer I got with it. It’s out of a 2002 Silverado 2wd

Little bit more progress on the truck tonight
The frame and fire wall is painted with dupli-color bed armor, and im going to do the entire cowl in semi gloss. I need to go to the junkyard and pick up an xj steering shaft still and go get a new steering stabilizer then I’ll be 100% back on all 4

Now the fun part tying all the little stuff in durning mock up the theme for this color combo is orange white and black,
Simplified the headlight harness and since I don’t like air bags and deleted the windshield washer resivore. A lot of work still left this is still the first phase of the rebuild, the rear is next after the motor is in and running for a couple days

Well I’m back on the truck again. Ordered my motor mounts swap plates trans mount and body bushing kit today. A couple weeks ago I order all of the brake parts to swap c2500 brakes on to it for the six lug swap. Next step is to start buying the motor parts and put everything together [emoji1360][emoji1360]

After that I’m starting on wiring and motor/trans work then the cooling system

What’s up guys I took a small break from working on the truck to clear my mind but I’ve been doing little things here and there to keep it moving well here’s the updates
Pulled the bed stripped the back half bed lined the frame and back wall swapped the 5 lug 10 bolt with drums and stock leafs to a 6 lug 10 bolts with 2001 Silverado springs and disc, put a double din alpine in it and a couple other things that I’ve done that I don’t have pics of yet like the battery relocation and the new reverse led pods I mounted somewhere different also slimmed down the factory wiring harness for the psi harness I’m planning on getting
