Yes I think the aftermarket stuff I've seen in our trucks looks like crap, so a cheap stock upgrade is all I'm looking for.

Really the standard stock radios in these trucks aren't as bad (concerning sound quality) as people make them out to be. I wish I still had the link but I remember reading some tests years ago and the stock Delco radios put out considerably more power than the 12-15W RMS per channel that most aftermarket head units offer these days. I want to say it was around 20W. A good set of speakers all around on a factory head unit can actually sound pretty decent. You might want to drop some in if you haven't already and see where that gets you.

Well I knew the output shaft seal on my transfer case has been seeping for a while, and just havent found the motivation to replace it until tonight, and boy was I disappointed. Checked over the rest of the truck, and found all 4 tie rods with busted boots and play, pitman arm has tons of play (front end replaced back in April of this year) front main seal is leaking enough to coat the center link, differential skid plate, and front crossmember, and the rear differential is leaking. Cleaned up the biggest of the messes before taking the pictures, but at least I found the problems before too much oil leaked out.

So I reckon a new diff cover and timing cover will be on the UPS truck sometime soon as the diff cover on the truck now looks a little too rusted up for my liking, and it kinda looks like my timing cover has a crack in it where its leaking from. But one way to find out for sure

Also found this dude, and I think I'm going to go pick it up. Even though I have a brush guard already, it has tons of give, and isnt very solid. Yes it has saved my truck from two deer already. But I'd like to have something a little stouter, and I think the price is right

Yeah, looks pretty popular. Messaged the guy before I made this reply, and havent gotten a response. But if I do get the opportunity to pick it up, my current brush guard and lights will be for sale lol. I could really use the bumper, and really hoping the guy gets back to me soon

Been fighting a random misfire upon 50%-80% load on the engine, and randomly at idle. I think I found the issue before firing the ignition parts cannon!

Went ahead and ran some new universal plug wire holders up on top of the valve covers until I figure out something a little more aesthetically pleasing.
But while changing bank one, noticed my master cylinder is leaking, and probably leaking into the booster. Believe it or not, master and booster is about a year and a half old. Looks like nbs master, and new booster is in the near future.

Well due to some emergencies with the girlfriend, updating and fixing a few things on the truck are put on hold. But in the meantime, picked this thing up today, bought for a Benjamin, and hopefully I'll get it running, and sell for a little profit. But we will see how I feel about it when I get it running and driving

I know its ugly, and a 'damn ol Ford' but I've got paperwork on a new powertrain, cooling system, brake system, and a ton of miscellaneous stuff.

But on the other hand of it, the truck pulled it perfectly, left it in 3rd except a few spots on interstate. And as much as I tow with this dang thing I need to go ahead and throw 2500 leafs on when i get a chance.

Well, I was really excited this evening, over the weekend I was given a newer shift lever, and after tearing the column apart, and pulling the old shift lever that these just wont work.

Old lever

If anyone has any ideas on how to make these new levers work, I'm all ears, as I'm not a huge fan of the levers in these trucks in the first place.

What you would need to do is to splice the old end onto the new shift lever so it will fit. I would weld the old end to the new lever but that will take some careful measuring, and you will need to heat shield the shifter end so the heat will not melt the plastic, or the wires. This would need to be TIG welded, if the metal is weldable. It looks like it would be weldable, but without having it here, IDK.

That's what I was assuming this as well, I've seen quite a few people say these are direct swap, and I've seen lots of pictures that the ends are the same, besides the notched end. And I've seen other 96' models have that 'newer' style end. So I'm kinda at a loss. Is it perhaps theres two different configurations in these years? Either way, its going to have to wait until I can get ahold of someone with a tig machine before it happens

Again, no real updates, been busy with life, and dealing with relationships. But it was time to wash the salt off of the old girl, and man, I wish it looked this good all the time!

Unfortunately I'm having some paint chipping issues on the lower part of the truck, and it is unfortunately rusting... So, it looks like this week, or next week, I'll have to sand down the bottom portion of the truck, and repaint, so itll be two tone for a while, at least until I have the extra funds to replace the cab corners/rockers, and do some body work before painting.

But on the good news side of things, found this score of the day!

Not the best picture, but complete K&N intake kit for $20+fuel, but either way, I'm buying a new element for it due to the guy stating he had it for about 280k miles, and hardly cleaned it, and has some shady patchwork where something rubbed against it. But it's a whole lot cheaper than a new unit!

Other than that, not a whole lot going on here in central Missouri for myself. Still havent had time to get the Thunderbird running, and may have an old Oliver tractor being given to me to restore, so the truck may end up on the back burner for a while until the priorities get taken care of
