I have a 1997 C1500 2wd 5.0. I thought I had a failure and had replaced the master cylinder two months ago. A couple a weeks ago the rear brakes locked up on the highway. I replaced the left rear wheel cylinder and it didn't fix the issue, it would just move to the next wheel. It will drive about a mile before the brakes start holding the truck, eventually getting too hot to move. I have since replaced each caliper and wheel cylinder, but the problem persists. After I replaced the last rear cylinder I couldn't get the rear to bleed until I bled the front again. I pulled the ABS fuse, but it still locks up. Could it be the new master cylinder? If so how do I check? ABS? Any help greatly appreciated.

When brakes are holding see if cracking a bleeder helps. Then move to cracking line at master if not. Could be holding pressure

Well I was saying if you cracked a line and it was holding pressure. The master should apply and release. If the pedal stroke is off it could be holding pressure applied

If cracking a line releases pressure, then theres an issue. Fluid should not be "under pressure" without pressing pedal down.

Appreciate the help, I'm not a mechanic so I have to keep asking questions. Cracking the line where? The nipple at caliper? The fitting at the master? Under pressure from master cylinder? I just need a little more information.

I didn't catch whether it was only the back locking or the next wheel meant a front brake as well.
