When im fooling with (Cable throttle) LS Swaps as long as its Red/Blue Connectors (1999-2002) i read the tune off and save it. Then full Flash whatever i need on the project and it works. Never ran into a issue yet.

Now when you get into the newer Engines (2003-2007) certain TAC Modules and pedals are needed for different Operating Systems. But yea 99-02 PCMs all have worked for me.

There use to be a ton of info on 411 swaps on gmtruckcentral.com. I don't know what happened to that site.

I came here because GMTC died. I think Al just got sick of footing the bill, there weren't that many of us over, but a lot of us had beefed up our trucks a bit. The write-ups are still out there last I checked, just the forum that died.

My understanding with HPTuners is that doing a full flash (i.e. changing the operating system) costs you extra credits ($100). Have you found a way around that?

I use EFI Live so we dont have any of that nonsense.
Ive only used HP tuners to help tune others stuff so haven't run into that unless they had already taken care of it before bringing me their HP tuners box.

The only way around it is if you have an unlimited license.

For instance I have an unlimited license for the 2002 trucks, so I can tune any of them without needing more credits. I also have already licensed a tune for the 0411 swap, so I can input that tune into any PCM that I have licensed.

If you don't have any license's it will require 4 credits, 2 for the PCM and 2 for the tune...

That is one of the most aggravating things with HPT. I sat down one evening with a stock tune a buddy had sent me and i set it up for his cam/heads/injectors/converter/tire/gear stuff and when i got done i couldnt save it unless i bought 2 credits.
I really like how EFI Live is setup in that regard. You can do whatever you want and dont have to use a License unless you flash a Module.

GMTC isn't dead. They overhauled the site and you're probably trying to get there from a bookmark when the entry URL has changed. I just logged in to confirm this again. Still up. New site works fine. Old content migrated fine.

The site is up, but the forum has been down forever. If that's changed, you got a link?
