How Rare is My 1999 Chevy K1500 Silverado Extended Cab?

Earlier this year, I picked up a 1999 (leftover 1998) Chevy K1500 and I'm curious how rare this truck is. For reference, I've owned 3 K1500s (1994 Z71, 1998 4x4 and 1999 4x4) and my Grandad has a 1998 Z71...so I've been eyeing up these trucks for 20 years and have never seen this specific combination before. Details below:

Very nice, but what's supposed to make it rare? It's one of the last GMT400s built, sure... and leather is probably fairly rare, but except for that, it seems reasonably common (popular, in other words, so don't take it wrong; 4x4 shortbed extended cab with the 350 and automatic would have been the favorite choice of configuration for many buyers, for a reason).

Rare because 99? Maybe. Rare because significant or valuable? Not so much.

These trucks had so many options and color combinations, they’re all rare in one way or another.

The fact yours is solid grey makes it somewhat more common actually. There’s still a ton of the extended cab, short beds on the road. Most I see are K1500 350’s too.

Color and interior options aside, shortbox extended cab automatic trucks are pretty common, especially around here. I consider SRW or even DRW regular cab long box 2500 or 3500 C/K series stick shift trucks to be pretty rare. Especially if they're higher trim levels like Scottsdale, Silverado or SLX, SLE.

I believe it's pretty rare to find 1999 1/2 ton GMT-400's. Most 99 1/2 tons were GMT-800s.

Thanks, all. I was curious if it was "rare" because of a few attributes:

• 1999 GMT400 (1988-98) leftover half-ton
• Grey leather interior
• Grey leather 40/60 split bench front seat (vs bucket seats)
• Medium Grey Metallic exterior paint
• Classic 4x4, not a Z71 or Z71 conversion (via fake stickers)
• Truck still has all OEM equipment, not loaded with aftermarket junk
• Cab corners, rocker panels, wheel wells, etc. have little to zero rust on them
• Low mileage @ 90k original

Here in Maryland, we see plenty of 1997-1998 ECSB K1500 Z71s, however, I've personally never seen a truck with this specific combination of features. I love the fact that this truck is unique (maybe that's a better term than rare), however, I recognize that does not increase the market value of the truck. I just like to be a little bit different from the rest of the pack

Just that the 5.3 was available later on the same model year which changed all interchange

I'm have a 2000 obs 3/4ton with one ton axles. 480le, 5.7l, trans & PS coolers. 87k miles..

I believe they call that the '99 "Classic?" I suppose many call it a "Silverado," but technically it's a K1500. I remember reading article back in high school when the GMT-800s came out there was supposed to be like a 10 year anniversary edition or something like that on the last run of GMT-400 C/K 1500s.

Now that I think about it, haven't come across one of these around here just checking on-line in the last year or so, so maybe here they are rare. In any case, sounds like a very clean, nicely trimmed out truck. Congrats!

I have a '99 Silverado ECSB 2WD (NBS) that I have owned since '07 with the 4.3 Vortec, so body is GMT-800, but engine is SBC instead of a Gen III. Pretty clean truck for the year. Last year I bought a '00 K3500 CCLB that's sort of a beater. So my "newer-looking" truck is older than my "beater, older-looking" truck, LOL.
