The “Chevrolet” on my tailgate band was faded pretty bad. I taped off the band, cut out the letters and spray painted it black. Unfortunately, some of the paint bled. It looks good from a distance but close up you can see some imperfections.

Thinking about starting over and just painting the whole band and doing something different, maybe reversed so black band with silver letters.

Anyone customize their tailgate band? Pics please!

I did the same thing. I thought about painting it black, and doing the letters white, or out lining the letters in black and paint them white, or the other way around. Then we go this biker coming to the shop. I got Him to teach me how to polish aluminum. So I stripped off the clear coat, and paint, then polished out the aluminum to a mirror shine. Then repainted the letters black. Like you, I had a little bleed over, so I got some acetone and removed the access paint after it dried for a few days. I do have to keep the aluminum polished from time to time, but it looks grate.
