Truck is doing great! Another hour drive to my grandpa's house over the weekend. Going to get a new fender on the other side to get rid of the rust over there, and then it will be 100% Spotless! I will get rust prevention on the rockers for the upcoming winter. Heading to junkyard this weekend to see if I can find anything cool. Also, I installed bedlights last night. Hey, if the 2020 models can have them, then my 95 can too!

I JUST LEARNED SOMETHING AMAZING. A friend of mine has worked on several of these trucks and told me that I can install 4wd without removing my transmission as long as I had the 4L60-E. Well, I have that and apparently it wouldn't be that hard. Might do this next year when it gets warm again!
Slap yer friend.

Don't even listen to that lol. That friend must be an idiot because I asked around on here and the frames are different. I trust people on here more

UPDATE! November 21st, 2019

Truck is still doing great! Handling highway trips like a boss. Planning on getting a second job so I can buy a beater. Currently looking at this rusted 2002 Suburban with 256k miles on it. Clifford will get painted eventually, but I want to only drive it when I'm on the highway. I need a cheap beater for winter duties and going to work through town.

Had to replace my CD player yesterday because it was scratching and ruining CDs. Going to fix my cruise control eventually. My heat took forever to start working since the truck sat for a long time before I bought it, but now it works great. My Hazard button broke so I superglued it back in and now that's stuck so that's fantastic. I also had a great idea the other day, and I've decided to keep the seats that's in the truck for right now. The leather is just an aftermarket cover come to find out, and the seats are cloth underneath. Going to have the words "Pilot" and "Copilot" stitched in the front seats.

Nice truck. Go ahead and spray down the frame with oil as well as the rockers if you're going to drive it in saltly environment. The metal frame soaks it up nicely. Mine is from Illinois and it is great corrosion prevention.

$3500 seems a bit much for something that has almost 260k miles and with that much rust, I'd look on Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace (just some advice: don't go to a dealer, they always charge twice as much than a private seller would, but if you want to go a dealer instead, that is totally up to you). If you are planning on looking at it, be sure to check the frame over good, that body style is notorious for cracking the frame from rust.

THANK YOU. I haven't been able to use Marketplace because I was under 18, but I just turned 18 2 days ago! YES YES YES

Also, I haven't sprayed it with stuff yet but I need to. Already had a huge snowfall that's melted. My mom's 2004 Silverado got stuck in the dealership parking lot on ice... but my truck didn't lol
I'm just looking around, don't think I'm ready for a second truck. I don't have much money at all, with the bills and the poor job. We don't have room for it either, but I found out that my friend is wanting to buy a new truck, but the dealership wouldn't pay much for his 97. Might shoot him up with an offer.

He has a 1997 Silverado, extended cab 2WD with the 5.7 Vortec. He also has a cool paint design on it and has owned it since 2001. Beautiful truck. Has normal rocker rust on it though, making it a good beater. It has almost 200k miles.

Clifford is doing great. Had him for 3500 miles now and other than the wreck, he hasn't had any issues mechanically. Next summer, he's getting repainted and I'm going to restore him to mint condition, and have that be my baby. Something you drive only on special occasions.

Update! November 27th, 2019

My cruise control has been fixed and now it floats like a dream going down the road. The bad news is that I lost my hazards in the process. The shop said that these things were controlled by a part called a "Multi function switch" which doesn't work and only the hazards worked, so they changed the fuse to the cruise control. They wanted $250 for the part PLUS $120 for labor, which isn't going to happen. I'll pull one out of a junkyard for 10 bucks

I also had an awesome chance to take a photo of it next to a brand new red 2020 Sierra Denali, which is below. 25 years later!
