Well bought a spare box while back and started working on the bedsides then I came across a really good deal on brand new ones so I decided to buy them and swap them onto this spare box I'm building for my 98. Once springtime hits I'll bring it back in dress the plug welds skim them with some short strand fiberglass them prep the inside of the box for boxliner and then prep and paint the the rest of the box and new used tailgate.

Looks good, I usually set them back on the truck and double check the front before welding the front. On the back you can spring it later if needed.

I did tons of measuring before the plug welds but ideally ya would of liked a truck to set it on probely checked my measurements ten times then ten more just to be certain and lots of time test fitting tailgate. But definitely coming along can't wait for the truck to finally be painted and I can just drive it and enjoy it I'm starting to get tired of spending money on it. The only thing keeping me going on having this truck painted is cause I just love the 88-98 C/K's and Iplease probablybe the only one in my area with a clean 98Z71 these rest are rusty piles of junk.

The only reason I mention that is not every truck is alike, and putting them back the same as the were before doesn't guarantee the best fit, but likely a good one. Good job, looks like you did nice clean work on it.

Thanks ya I did a bunch of measuring I'm confident it'll be good I also did a bunch of test fitting of the tailgate aswell before plug welding them on. I probably won't post much about the truck now till spring that's when the box goes on and the truck will be getting a full complete paint job. After that it'll be basically parked and used as a advertisement truck for my buddy's truck accessories and tire shop / motocross shop the truck will be decaled out with bunch of motocross decals. I'm replacing my 98 Z71 with a Tundra TRD 5.7 as my new dirtbike hauler and daily driver might use the 98 when I start racing just to get more advertising for my sponsors. But I got a Toyota dealer that's willing to sponsor me a bit if I start racing if I buy a Tundra off them so not sure witch truck will be my team truck maby I'll use both the restored 98 Z71 and the new TRD Tundra.

There definitely not out of stuck up here in Saskatchewan but at $1300 a side plus tax and shipping I can see why. I was on Kijiji classifieds one morning and found the passenger side one new in box but couple small dings from storage for $300 and was only 45min away then the following weekend I happened to be just browsing the classifieds again and found a new drivers side one for $500 it was about hour 40 away. They were both so cheap I just couldn't pass them up. Still got a bunch of work left too do too the box like grind down and dress the plug welds and weld in my chain links all over inside bedsides for place to actually tie stuff down. I did that to my current box so handy spent alot of time spacing them out perfectly to look factory. Can't wait till I get the truck done and painted.

I know this is an old thread, but could you give me a rundown of the areas where the spot welds are on each side...I just bought a replacement bed and realized the "new " bed floor and wheel wells are beat up and I'd rather just cut the bedside off and replace my original one...but can't find the information on removing a bedside for these trucks
