I have a 1998 GMC K1500 truck and I am working on turning my suspension from a 1500 to a 2500. I have already upgraded the torsion bars and I am looking into doing the rear leaf springs but I don't know which ones would best suit my truck. I see there are ones for a 7,200 GVW and 8600 GVW.

7200 springs are nearly identical to the heavy half springs as a 4+1 pack. 8600 packs are a 5+1 and I have them on my 1500.

I had to crank the front end because the stack is larger and has less sag. I noticed the rear of my truck was much stiffer but dont notice it now. It sags less when towing a trailer as well

Did the K1500 have forged lower control arms? I thought the K2500 and K3500 had them, not sure of the K1500 if they were stamped or forged. Unfortunately, I recall forged LCA are not available new? Junkyard is an option.

K1500 also have a hybrid that are also labeled as stamped. The ball joint side is forged but joins into a stamped arm. Not sure when gm came out with those but it decreased the turning radius
