Didnt see your comment at first, but they definitely go through just about everything! Thanks!

Grab the whole LT1, send the LT1 bottom end to the machine shop, sell the cast iron heads, get some LT1 aluminum heads, send the heads and intake to Lloyd Elliot. Swap the LT1 into your truck complete. For ignition, ditch the optipuke and go EFI Connection 24x for the LT1 that has the cam sensor built into the timing cover. Run the 0411 PCM and some D585 LS truck coils. Its not hard to make 400 hp at the tires under 6,000 rpm with a stock cube, heads/cam LT1.

More than likely if I do end up doing anything, a complete LT swap will be done, and 24x will be done as well.

But machine shop just got a hold of me on the L31 they have, and that's a decent chunk of change to get that thing completed like i wanted.

LT swap will be on the back burner for now as I cant justify the $600 for an unknown condition LT1 or L99, so maybe once some other things get situated, a LT1 or even LT4 may be sitting on my engine stand

Ouch...That LT1 or even a LS 6.0L would be under $250 with a 30 day warranty at my local Pick & Pull.

My last 4L80E was $190 with a 13 month warranty.

Yeah, for anyother engine, it would be $200-$300 depending on what accessories and or wiring harness I wanted to take. But for some reason, L99, LT1, LT4, and 8.1s are stupid high. And they dont have a warranty. No returns on those engines. I think its ridiculous, and that's why I havent picked one up yet

If a different intake/fuel injector setup is the desire, I would think it's cheaper and easier to swap to a Ramjet 350 or similar Holley intake.

If it was me i would save my money and buy a nice set of heads that will run a vortec manifold.
Well it's hard to improve on the vortec heads without spending $1200+ for a set, and I've got a set of vortecs getting ported with 2.02 intake valves anyways.

You're probably right, I'll probably just stick to the vortec intake until I decide I want something different. LT swap? HO vortec? Gen 7 BBC?
I guess we will have to see what I end up with
