I bought an Anzo years ago. Its Its still in good shape, but I did have to resaulder one of the connections for the cargo light on the drivers side. Its been all good since. I have some LED strip lights, that I am going to put under the top bed rails. I will tie this into the cargo light. So when you hit the cargo light switch, they will also come on. You can see the 3ed brake - cargo light in this pic.

Sharp looking truck!
I looked at anzo just a few weeks ago, and every recent review (past 6 months) have been nothing but negative responses. So I'll probably just end up holding out until reviews get better I reckon

Thanks, I have a lot of work in my truck. The Anzo has been on my truck for years. IDK if the quality has gone down in the last few years of not. The reason I replaced my OE was because of the gasket leaking. At the time 6 or 7 years ago, the Chevy dealer still sold the OE replacement, but it was expensive. I dont remember how much but 3 or 4 time more than the Anzo. I have a bunch of pic of my truck in my photos. Just click my avatar , then my albums page, and then my 97 if you want a better look. I had it repainted in 2013.

I'll check them out sometime!

Just left the pick n pull, and found an escalade, yeah they are hard to find, but this one was unique, I opened the hood, and there wasnt a 5.7 vortec in there, but a 7.4 vortec. Ran the vin, and it came back as an Escalade with a 5.7. Someone swapped the 350 for a 454. I forgot to grab pictures as I was too amazed already, but the interior was mostly complete, I grabbed the dash bezel, instrument cluster, and the throttle body, as I plan on doing a 454 throttle body soon. But other than that, most of the gmt400 trucks were stripped down, with no goodies left. All of the dash switches were pulled apart from eachother, and most of the interiors were gone. I was a little disappointed when I didnt find a decent 6.5 bumper, but overall it wasnt bad. I'll grab pictures when I get to the house

Escalade Dash bezel that I seen I believe SKproductions was looking for, so hes getting first choice on it, another 120 cluster, 454TB that will be taken apart today to be cleaned, and a 350 throttle spring put in, Bose radio unit that will probably go into the pickup, a replacement dome light (cant find who makes these, or where to find them, so I grabbed it and ran for $5, the actual temp mirror, and some jacka** there had a handful of dash needles laying in a surburban, didnt find what they came out of, so I grabbed them. Cant tell what they might be from, they look like gmt400 needles, but the smaller ones are 1/4" longer, and the speedometer needle is about 1/2" longer.

Well, tried out the Bose head unit, and that thing is junk! Sound seemed to be alright, but something was shorted, so it made everything sound super high pitched. Not too sure if I'll keep it around for spare parts? Or take it back for a yard credit.
But I did swap out throttle bodies, and I havent seen a write up on here, so I may do a write up here after a while

Dont mind the dirt and grime here!

Even though weather here is horrible (sleet/snow/iced roads) I can definitely feel a difference between the two throttle bodies, it didnt take as much throttle to keep the truck moving, and seemed to have a TON more throttle response. So I'm happy with it.

Truck seems to have a clunk when hitting bumps, so I'll throw it up on the lift tomorrow and see what's going on.

So the 454 throttle bodies fit on the 350s? And it is really that much more noticeable in throttle response? I may have to get one for my 97, its not as peppy as I'd like it to be.

They fit, but there are some slight modifications, if you want to know how I done it, I'll make a write up on it. But the 350 TB have a sort of restrictor on the butterfly valve

The 454 butterfly doesnt have this lip. So less throttle is required for the same amount of air entering the intake, therefore increasing the throttle response. As well as a larger throttle body. It's not a huge difference in size, but it can help in high performance applications. (71mm 350, 86mm 454)
But the poor man's way of doing it, is to remove the butterfly valve from the 350 TB and remove the restrictor.

Also, it took much less throttle to keep the truck going down the road. The old TB took about 35% throttle to stay at 70mph on flat road, and this new TB was down to about 12-15% to keep at 70mph

Yeah if you could do a write up, that would be great. I'll have to see about doing this mod sometime.

Well herea how I did it, you dont need many tools, and it took me about 30-45 minutes to complete. All you'll need is
Flat blade screwdriver
5.5mm socket
8mm deep well socket
10mm socket
Ratchet
T15 bit
T25 bit
1/8 drill bit
Drill
And a pocket screwdriver is handy.

First off, remove your throttle body, remove the intake hose from the intake hat using your flat blade screwdriver, and then remove the wing nut from the intake hat.

Remove the wing nut stud with the 5.5mm socket, and then remove the throttle cables from the throttle blade. Cruise control cable simply pushes back, and in clips.

Then remove the upper throttle cable bracket bolt using the 10mm, and then remove the 3 8mm throttle body bolts. Then the throttle body comes out.

Now this should be what you have laying on the bench, remove the two T15 screws from the butterfly valve, and hold the throttle wide open to remove the blade. It should just press up and out.

Then you'll need to remove the TPS using the T25 bit

Once your TPS is off, take a small hammer, and tap the rod out of the throttle body housing, it may take a little bit of force, but dont Heman it. You should be left with something along this line

Now the 350 TB have a yellow spring, 454s use this purple spring. Hang onto the yellow, unless you want a throttle that a feather can hold at WOT.

Now do the same process with the 454 TB, and the linkage rods will be swapped from TB to TB due to different configurations

454 in my hand, 350 on the throttle body. Both in the same throttle blade positions

Next thing you want to do is clean, if you're like me, and picked up a throttle body from the J/Y, then it will more than likely be covered in grime, and carbon. Clean it with carb cleaner, and a brass wire brush. Clean to your liking and then, it's all basically reverse order, use the 350 throttle lever in the 454 body, and reuse the 350 throttle lever spring.

Once the 454 throttle body is assembled and installed back onto the intake manifold there are a few things that have to happen to get the intake hat back on.

Now you'll have to drill some, the 454 TB is about 1/10" larger in outside diameter as the 350 TB, this means that the intake hat barely fits on, and will not go on with the factory metal clip in the front. So take a 1/8"dl drill bit, and drill out the two rivets, but be careful as you dont want to drill into the intake hat.

Once this is removed, go ahead and lube the intake hat up with petroleum jelly, or silicone spray, and press it onto the TB. I had to use some forceful persuasion with a wood block to fully seat the intake hat on. After that, connect your throttle cables, intake hat wingnut, and connect your intake pipe from the filter, and dont forget to plug in your IAC and TPS.

And now it's time to fire it up, you may have to adjust the idle screw, depending on who messed with it in the J/Y before hand, or if it's a new unit.
