I finally got around to installing my Blue Top steering box and man what a difference! The steering is very tight and responsive now, probably the best it has ever been since I've had it. I installed a new steering pump along with the box, and also swapped my 3.42 front diff for a 3.73 diff and new cv axles to match my rear ratio.
I ordered a h2 hummer air intake from eBay to try out, and I am really liking how much better it fits and the way it is perpendicular to the fender. I am going to design an air intake box for it so it only gets fresh air from the fender scoop.
Here are a few pictures under the hood.

I'm not sure that I mentioned this before, but about two months ago I had to have my 4l60e worked on at the dealership under warranty. 2nd gear had started slipping pretty bad to the point where it wouldn't even hold 2nd with any amount of throttle. After a month, I finally got it back and all seemed well. (thanks to bad timing with the strike at GM and the dealership changing owners)
2 days shy of having it back for a month, I was driving to work getting onto the highway when I noticed it shifted into 1st gear while merging instead of 2nd. I didn't give it heavy throttle, just enough that I should have kicked in 2nd gear. Well, I noticed 1st revved up high and then shifted and was low in rpms. I later found out it was shifting from 1st to 3rd and I could not get it to go into 2nd. Finally I was able to get it to go into 2nd around 30 mph by manually shifting down to "2" but it slipped like it did the first time. On the way home from work that night, it started slipping in 4th gear when the converter was locked. The next day I pulled the heat shield off where the servo is to check the clearance. I've been reading that it should have anywhere from 1/16" to 1/8" movement. I ended up measuring 1/2" of movement, which would explain why the band wasn't holding. So I took it to the dealership Saturday once again and told them the issues it had. The transmission guy drove it Monday and stated that he thinks it is in the valve body or something electrical. I am still waiting to hear back, but I am beginning to question whether or not he adjusted the band clearance when he rebuilt it. I'm hoping they'll warranty it out with a new unit but we shall see.

I don't know that you can adjust band clearance on that trans. Pretty sure it's ******.
It's adjusted by the servo pin length. The have several different length pins from the factory. I even have a picture of the trans disassembled mostly and the servo is still in it. Makes me wonder if it was even pulled or adjusted in the first place.

And yes, it definitely is that. I'm pushing for a loaner vehicle to hopefully light a fire under them to get mine done. I'm getting frustrated with them.

Ahh yeah, forgot about that. But once they slip it's usually too late. I think to do a band you yank the pump and front drum and it's right there though, right?
