Ok guys, I’m wondering if anyone has had this problem. First I’ve been restoring/new parts to the ol red beast slowly but had my all latches hinges checked pins/ bushings good and (gm new stuff) on both doors they close and latch like new. So I’ve had a leak it somehow is coming down the outside of the door maybe and pooling up in between the weatherstripping if it pools up enough it flows over to the floor pillar metal part of the side of the floor pan. So I went ahead and replaced both door weatherstrippings to see if maybe that would stop it so, the doors close tight, to where you have to slightly push (not hard) a little to get the door to close when shutting the doors from the new seals. So guess what it still pooled some on the drivers side I’m at a loss and dumbfounded to how it’s getting thru the new seals over to the floor channel ? I took a couple pics to show what I’m saying if u look it starts right past the factory plastic kick pad piece in between the door seal u can see it pooling up. Anyone got any ideas? I do need to replace the drip rail seal at the top of the doors, but that would make it leak like this and only one side .....thanks Brandon

May be a longshot, but I've seen windshield leaks flow into the floorplan. Check your firewall, and make sure its dry
yeah I thought about that dry as a bone but The leak is only in the winding up in seam of the door weatherstripping seal, and setting here thinking about it, now this kinda makes sense I wonder if somehow it’s the drains from the door causing it to pool up in between the seal somehow, i gotta check them out but then I don’t know what to do if it is the door drains causing it....?

Is it pooling under the sill plate where the three screws go through? My 98 Z71 leaks there on the passenger side, my 98 Tahoe on the driver side. The edge of the carpet soaks it up.

My gasket looks like yours - it’s wet on the back side (closest to the seat) and must be overflowing into the area under the sill plate.

I was going to order new weatherstripping this week...and then I saw your post. So you’ve changed the piece that goes all around the door but not the top half (see blue arrow below)?

east302 yeah exactly that’s the piece i haven’t changed yet, I’m guessing it’s called a drip rail weatherstripping I had the gm number wrote down somewheres but got to track them down again I haven’t changed those yet but to answer what u asked yes changed the door seals and not the piece u arrowed but it pools in the middle of the door seal just after the curve at the front of the door and then middle ways just a small spot but if enough it pools up enough it run into the other side of the seal over to the metal of the floor which would be the edge of the rocker on the floor pan and if I had my trim piece back in mine too would be soaked onto the carpet that’s one of the reasons I have waited to put them back in till I’m sure it’s dry and sealed ow and I checked about the door drains there’s no way it would be able to pool up at the door seal from the door drains cause the door drains are way lower than the door seal so that’s out so .....I’m racking my brain on it.....

It sounds like we’re seeing the same issue, then. I was thinking door drains as well, but they’re clear. I’ll have to take a hose to it...when it quits raining, lol.

Someone said to put a dollar bill in the door, shut it and try to slide it around to find the gap. I’ll have to try that. When I open the door, there’s a thin trail of water along the entire perimeter of the weatherstripping face so I guess it’s coming from up top. I just assumed that the weatherstripping had gotten too flat.

It looks like it’s the top weatherstrip (drip rail thing) on my Tahoe. It’s been raining all evening. I went out and the top piece is wet in one small place in the center above the door. It looks like it’s running over the felt part of it and down to the big loop of weatherstripping. From there it looks like it’s going to the bottom where it fills up the gap and overflows to the rocker panel area.

I’m going to swap all of it out, maybe it’ll fix it.

Cool man, that’s awesome and it sucks being as u found it and it could and couldn’t be the fix (but I’m hoping it is for both of us) I’m going to order my drip pieces I guess this Friday when I get time, let me know what u find out when and if u get yours done before mine I’ll report back on here, regardless on mine I was going to replace the drip pieces anyways but like I said it’s crazy how it could be that but then again you never know..right...but if the drip rail thing don’t solve mine idk from there ...its about to drive me bonkers
