I don't think I'll be doing any real mods to my truck besides intake and exhaust, maybe a cam but for the most part stock. It has 210k and I have another vortec sitting I may build and jam a th400 behind it and drop all electronics off of it at that point and go carbed , thanxs for the knowledge and advice.

My blackbox had a phantom knock that would always pull timing at WOT even stock. The 411 got rid of that and improved drivability and throttle response. This was back on the stock cam, intake, and no blower.

How hard is the 411 swap? If my buddies 99 5.3 has the correct ecu I can get plugs and as much wiring as needed for nothing. Maybe I can make a crossover adapter with an old black box , desolder the female plugs from it and adapt to new 0411 male plugs so not only could I swap back but could sell the complete setup to someone who wasn't inclined to repin a plug. My other buddy has basically an OBS junkyard and almost never messes with black boxes so I have access to a bunch of those

You repin your current wires into the new plugs. Your friend's truck sounds like it has the 411. No hacking of wiring required. Except for the VSS wires, you pin one and solder the other to it. Realistically, you could pin back to a blackbox down the road. It's easily reversed.

Any 99-02 4.8 , 5.3, 6.0 pcm will work. Just get the correct tune put on it and your good to go.
We always full-flash a 2002 operating system in the 99-01 PCMs. Gives more options and custom operating systems to work with.

411 swap is just moving wires around. Time consuming but easy as can be.
