It is quite miraculous what a faulty temp sensor can do to a vehicle. The problem wasn't the one we changed, that was the intake temperature. The problem was that the coolant temp was reading around -22° Celsius at all times. Now (almost) all the transmission problems and uneven idle and tc locking and what not other problems she managed to create are taken care of and she drives just like the day I bought her, which is a pretty big damn relief. Two problems still persist though, those being the turbo wastegate malfunctions and one transmission problem I can't wrap my head around. That is, every ~5th start, she won't change up from 1st gear. Gives the code 81 which would mean 2-3 shift solenoid broken or open circuit. Take the batteries off for 5 minutes and all is well again. Could there be an other problem that would result in this, or is it really the solenoid? And if it is, how many are there in a 4L80E, because I've only seen 1-2's and 2-3's for sale? A rational thing would be to change them all at once when performing a tranny oil change?

Also, can't wait to do the 4 corner mod when I hopefully find a better condition grille, she needs more amber x)

It has come time for...

tow mirrors! Yeeeey!
Well, until I had to install them of course, then it became a nay... :D
Had a bit of a hard time figuring them out at first because the package didn't include any instructions, just a wire chart telling which color is which. So, the odyssey began and I was actually supposed to wire in a ground for the parks. Or actually, for the signals, I planned to take the power from the parks and pul the ground to the signals power, so that when the indicator comes on, the mirror signals would shut off, and so forth. But it turned out, the other mirrors retractable glass wasn't quite as retractable as on the other side

So I had to ditch that idea for now because if I opted to rip it out, chances are that it would've shattered way more in the process and I couldn't have gotten it back in without a hand full of glass. And the picture was taken this morning, I didn't break it by pulling from that angle. Well, anyhow, now I have mirrors that I can see from, but it has become very visually clear now that I need bigger tires, which will have to wait for next summer because my job's about done and it's back to school next month

When the time comes that I get the new glass, I'll be wiring the parks in and at some point I am seriously considering painting the chrome caps to the body color

So you mentioned that pancake is a translation of a word, could you elaborate further?

Well, chevrolet here is often called letukka, especially by older folks, and so I started calling mine lettu and now that I think about it, crêpe would probably be a closer equivalent, buuut pancake is also one translation, and more understandable I quess. It's just a funny name and also a little describing, because without the turbo in function that thing moves like loose paper, or in this case, pancake :D

I feel like it's time for an update. Got some little things done here and there and a little bit of a question to present. First up, I finally got my interior lights working as intended, after I changed both my door jamb switches, which is a very small thing but boy oh boy does it make a difference, especially when half the year out here is coveted in darkness... Also, got bored and decided to install my lower corner markers in the front. Was going to wait and do them and the uppers when I find a new grille, buut decided I could do the lowers already now and just have to tap into those wires when the time comes for the upper ones. Also, I wired them so that they flash opposite to the indicators, power from the parks and ground it on the indicator power.

And while on the subject of lights, I finally installed the extra cargo lights I've had laying around since I bought the truck and it just makes night and day difference! Still have to tidy up the wiring a little, but they come on and off with the factory cargo lamp switch which is awesome!

For anyone else wanting to do that, get the wires from the bed into the cab through your preferred route. I made a hole under the door where the wires travel to the back of the cab, I can get y'all a pic of it later. Then take off the plastic cover on the side at the front, which is associated with the hood opening handle. Under there, open up the wire loom traveling down, and find the blue wire with the white stripe and tap into that for power. For ground, you can trace a ground wire from the same loom, or just ground it on the metal, whichever you prefer, at least for me it didn't make a difference in function. And there you go.

Also I've installed a CB radio and antenna, but have yet to wire in the antenna, only brought the wires into the cabin so far, but I'll be handling the rest of it today.

Then, for the question: I have a new problem with the electrics, where the throttle pedal suddenly turns into on/off mode and doesn't let the revs down, as if it was on cruise control. This has so far only happened when hot, after a few hours of cruising on highways. Then the other night, when changing from drive to reverse, the rpm's suddenly exploded to the red line, almost causing me an accident, buut I thankfully managed to stomp on the brake before I hit anything. Baffled, I tried it again, this time with my foot firmly on the brake: N=nothing, D=nothing, back to N=nothing, R=revs to the top, back to N=nothing. After that it was suddenly fine again, like nothing ever happened. The thing is, after all those times, I checked but didn't have a single code, which I found weird. Weol, there was the turbo wastegate, but I reckon that don't cause such malfunctions... I'm thinking either the accelerator pedal is faulty or there's something going on with the cruise control. The PMD has been moved out of the original place and has been living happily everafter for a little under a year now with the heatsink, so I doubt that would be causing this. Have any of you got any insight or suggestions on this?

At one point or another, my sweet little pretty thing is going to get emergency beacons on the roof, that was kinda decided before I even bought the car, because I'll be able to use it for work, escorting oversize loads and such. That's the plan anyway, and when it's going to happen, or the certainty of it, is yet to be decided. But, I've been toying with some ideas a lot and finally took a little time to make a visual comparison out of them.

Now, the middle option, which was kinda competing for #1, has been ruled out because, well, I'd run out of roof. Unless I can find them square model fog/highs in a smaller size... The one on the right doesn't really quite tickle my butthole like I'd want it to, and the one on the left is kinda what I've been planning from the start. And please forgive me my poor image manipulation skills and the very poor quality.
Have any of you got suggestions on the matter?

ps. There will be those small led beacons distributed over the car as support, likely 4 in the grille, probably 2 on both sides between the bed and cab and some in/below/on top of the bumper in the rear

pps. LED beacons on the roof are a no-go, they just don't look right and they don't rotate which is just boring :D And yea, tried once, it was a little too wide as well, that model in question, but yeah, that's just no

I guess it's time for a little update again, though not a lot has changed. But, at least something has; I changed my headlights! And now it looks like pancake's going through her teenage emo phase... :D

This has to do with the old ones being from a 1990 mitsubishi lancer, if y'all remember from one of the first posts in the thread. And what else did I find under the grille? The wild, wild west of wires and patents...

Quite the difference. Also, I can see now. The low beams are twice as good as the old lows and highs combined :D The highs then again... Put it this way, the drivers side didn't work then, and it still don't now... They had been wired through a relay when the conversion was done, but it was sketchy af... I already replaced the driver side relay, but that didn't fix it, so I now I gotta take a better look at the wires one of these days.
And the reason I did this now, is because I got an irresistable offer, where a guy reached out to me saying hey, I've got a new grille and would like to have your old one and the lights, for a project. I jumped on it happy as a clown, but the evening before I was supposed to venture out to where he lives, he told me he didn't need it anymore, he got a new one from a buddy. This was at 8 in the evening, we were supposed to leave at noon the next day. So that deal went to ****... But, went out halfway there anyway with my gf and friends, to Helsinki, the capital of Finland, for a night out. But because life can't ever be easy, assumably the headlight switch went out, shutting off every single park and dash light. I only had head-, brakelights and indicators. Driving on a dark highway infested with speeding cameras is pretty interesting when you have no clue of how fast you're doing :) thank goodness for cruise control... Never-ever-ever buy a WVE headlight switch, take it from me. The first one lasted 10 months. The next one barely 2. So screw them, never buying anything non-delco again, switch-wise anyway...
Also, I made a sig :)

Has anyone got wiring diagrams for the high beams of a 95? After messing around with a multimeter, I have come to the conclusion that I have no signal from the green wire, that I believe is the factory power for the bulb because the passenger side relay runs off it. Is there a fuse somewhere along the wire or is it possibly just cut..? Also I found a cut, lonely blue wire, coming from the same loom, any ideas on that?
