Yea, the dont 'Require' a core but you'll pay extra for a unit if you dont return one.... which is probably cheaper than sending one over sea's like you said.

Ok. Picked up the sensor for the column. Put it on in about 10 minutes. All the wandering is pretty much gone. It is easy to turn at slower speeds and firmer at higher speeds. A lot better driving. I still have issue with not returning to center. I do have a bit of wear on my passenger side front inner tire. Driver side is fine. Pressure is the same in all 4 tires. I guess my problem is going around curves i have to actually pull the wheel back to center to straighten up. Otherwise it would just keep turning. I know i need an alignment but sure hate to spend the money when i will be doing the drop in about 4 weeks or so.

So you mentiones a u joint replacement. Can you give me details on that? Took truck on long drive today. It is night and day difference after the sensor install on the column. Looked at the rag joint and they look average wear for the year but i would like to change out to the u joint . any info is really appreciated.

If you do end up replacing the box, I have a RedHead Quick-Ratio in my 93 and I love it! Its expensive but very worth it compared to having to buy/install/uninstall/return for a different one 3 or 5 times through a local parts store before you get a good one.
Is your truck 4WD or 2WD. I wonder if the quick ratio is good for the 4wd?

I bought a AC Delco, was kind of loose, took it out, bought an AC Delco, was kind of loose, took it out, Bought a Red Head Std Ratio and never looked back. Was crazy expensive but worth every penny as I probably would have sold my truck without it due to the way I drove so loose. It was terrible even with the rebuilt Cardone and AC Delco boxes. I might go with the quick ratio next time but I have big tires on the 4wd so did not. Anyhow, although expensive, the RedHead Steering box was one of the best choices of anything on my truck I've bought and one of the best choices of any choice I've made in my life. I may sound like I'm exagerating but they really are that good.

Generally not recommended due to the higher ride height of the 4WD trucks, although I know a couple people here have done it. I wouldn't do it personally, especially if you're running bigger tires or a lift.
