Good afternoon,

My first post here so I want to thank everyone in advance for any help you can offer. I have a question about a SBC engine suffix code that I am having a hard time finding information on. This engine is in my 1988 c1500 that is currently under construction and I was told it is not the original engine. It is stamped with a suffix code of "SFA". I have looked at many suffix code lists and have yet to find one that lists the SFA code. Can anyone here direct me some information on what this engine is out of. Again thank you for any assistance.

Where did that come from? I know off the block but where? You need the long number off the driver rear right next to the bellhousing.

I just use the block number as Merlin suggests. Depending on year there is partial vin somewhere on it if it hasn't been tampered with that can be used to find out exactly what car it came out of.

If you haven't been here, this site has quite a bit of info on casting numbers.
