I’ve also been thinking about a common rail 5.9 to really open up the doors for tuning or at least a P-Pumped 24V. Thanks for the suggestion about other vehicles. The old fed ex truck that was at my house today had a 5.9 in it and it got me thinking again.

Common rail will involve much more wiring. When I did the swap I picked a ppumped motor for ease of installation/wiring as well as reliability. It needs no sensors to run, just some power to start and hold the fuel stop solenoid open.

Uhh no I don't want that lol. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm aware that it would be more intensive, but I think it would open up a lot of possibilities. You are right though, the 12V would be super easy. I will probably stick with that.

P pump 800hp. 24v 1200hp. Common rail cp3 1500hp.

Ok I think 4-500hp and 700 to 1000tq should be fine for me.

12v p pump it is!

I'm looking at this swap right now. The cummins are loud and proud. But a LS and 6 spd auto would be smooth and quiet which my wife will like. Hummmm

Suggestions?

It all depends on what you want out of it. Diesel stuff is cool and efficient. Gas stuff is cheaper. T56 6 speeds aren't cheap tho.

Not a 6spd manual.

6L90E. Automatic transmission.

I love the torque thrust from my 6.5 turbo diesel. A higher governor spring and a better turbo and the 5.9 will sing. My friends 5.9 is barely faster than my 6.5 but it will keep up the speed while towing. I can't say the same. He has around 375 to 400 hp but like 700lb ft of tq. And averages over 20 mpg

My wife bought herself a honda and she doesn't care what engine is in my truck, she says, all trucks are the same, they ride like trucks, just saying, lol
