I'm looking to buy a parts truck from a guy at work He originally said it was a '94 454 Suburban with 4x4. I'm interested in doing the 14 bolt SF swap and perhaps taking a few other parts from the truck, and I figured his truck might just have what I'm looking for. Anyway, he finally sent me a pic of the RPO sticker and several of the RPO's check out- GT4 & G80. However, the VIN comes back as a 1500 and it's a 350 truck. I don't see "F44" but do see "JB6" (which I think I've seen on 14 bolt SF trucks) so I'm not sure if it's a 10 bolt or 14 bolt truck. I've seen 1500's with either axle, but not so sure that F44 goes hand in hand with seeing a 14 bolt on a 1500 truck. So I'm looking for confirmation from you fine folks. Please take a look at the pic of the RPO's:

Now, I'm not sure what he wants for it. He's the second owner, bought it in '95 or '96 and I think it's got 150k miles on it or so. He's not a car savvy person, the thing really hasn't run in about ten years. Claims to have started it and put front brakes on it three years ago. Also said it was running rough at that time. I haven't seen pics of it but assume it's rusty as frig. It's about 30 or 40 miles away from me. What would you guys pay for it? I want a 14 bolt but don't beat on my truck, and all the 14 bolt GT4 G80 axles I came across in the yard were blown up or no good. So at this point I'd be ok with a 10 bolt that didn't howl.

Have not seen the 9.5 in a Suburban 1500 at all. Not saying it doesn't exist, just super rare if it does.

Suburban 1500's even 2wd come with big rear brakes- JB6 doesn't indicate 9.5

It's gonna be a 10 bolt, and probably howling from carrying the weight of the 'burb all its life. IMO...

Thanks for the replies fellas!

I can't say I've seen a 14 bolt SF on a half ton 'burb either, but if what MIHELA is saying is correct, I'm all over it. I have noticed 'burbs have bigger rear brakes. Noticed that two weeks ago, ain't never paid attention to 'em before but I was hunting DRAC[ula] modules for Ashley's truck so they were targeted as well.

Let's say it has a 14 bolt.. What would you fellas pay for the whole thing?

I honestly only seen the bigger rear ends with F44 rpo code at the junk yards, since he has a camera have him send you a pic of the rear end and that will end all speculation. Not trying to dispute MIHELA. As for the larger brakes, I have seen that to be true on a tahoe rear end and the escalade ones. However, they are still 10 bolt, just a little bit bigger brakes and I like the spring arrangement better on them.

JB6 and C5Z means it has a 14SF 6 lug.
Disagree, from personal experience. C5Z simply means 7200lb GVW. In a 2500 pickup that would include the 9.5" 14 bolt SF with 6 lug pattern. In the 4x4 1500 Suburban it can still mean 8.5" 10 bolt. I've still got an example SPID label from a 1994 K1500 Suburban with that exact setup. C5Z, JB6, GT4, G80... and it was a 10 bolt. :(

My '99 K1500 Suburban had the SF 14-bolt with 8-lugs ... but it was the 6.5L turbo diesel.

400 lb-ft of torque got the HD drivetrain even with cushy 1500 suspension.
Nice rig, excellent ride, 3.42 gears weren't the best for towing, though.

Nice 'Burb! Tons of options too, I dig it. I ain't never seen an 8 lug half ton.

Looks like I'm in for a bummer with what someotherguy said. Maybe I could make money on it by parting it out or trying to get it running again? What would you guys pay for the Surburban in question here?

I should be getting other pics come Friday evening..

Its weird to see a half-ton Burb with 8 lugs, anyone know what the true point of that was? I know it has something to do with the diesel, but then again, 6.5s were available in a 6 lug half-ton.
