I'm looking at buying a 94 GMC Sierra 1500 that's in decent shape for a work truck and a truck to drive while I paint my 98. If I can make a deal with the guy I'd like to switch it from manual shift 4x4 (I hate them) to a pushbutton. The pushbutton in my 98 Z71 has never ever let me down and I think it would be cool to do in the 94- interior. Is there anyway to make a standalone harness or does someone make a standalone harness to do this swap? I'd like too run the 96-98 switch and I know I'll need a different carpet and I'll have too patch the floor that's not a problem.

You'd be better off with the manual. I think it's pretty F'n stupid to have a button to shift into 4wd, it's just one more electrical thing to go wrong. And it will. Switches go bad, motors go bad, wiring, need I go on?

I've owned many pushbutton 4x4s including my 98 and never had a problem I perferr the pushbutton 4x4 myself. I can find standalone harnesses for the newer 99+ style but can't yet find one for the 88-98s yet.

I’m sure if you got the parts it prolly work. But to me seems like a lot of work for something that will fail.

I think I'm just going to find a clean 97-98 with the pushbutton 4x4 or just say the hell with it and finally jump into a lbz duramax yes with pushbutton 4x4 and sell my current 98 Z71. F### manual shift 4x4 it's 2019
