So the wiring diagrams clearly indicate differences in the ABS connectors. Has anyone ever dissembled an ABS unit to know if I can swap the upper control module separate from the lower hydraulic control portion? ...and not have to bleed the brakes.

I can confirm that the upper unit of the abs module can be swapped without bleeding the brakes.

I can also confirm that the lower portion of the abs unit for a ‘95 is compatible with 96+ units. I simply swapped the upper unit and everything works as it should now.

I learned the ABS thing the hard way. I put a 95 on my 97 and plugged it up, all was good. Noticed I couldn't read my codes on any scanner later on, thought it was odd. Eventually needed to read them and traced wires until I ran into the box you show above. I unplugged it and I could read the codes again. Finally looked up the parts and realized they had different part number. Now I need to switch the tops like you are doing.

Wow! What a project! If you wanted to add the electrochromatic mirror, I may have a spare. That connector for that and the cab lights moved in 1996 to thatbpkug between the steering column brackets. Is a nightmare to get to with dash installed.

Thank you. It took me longer than it probably should have to figure out what was going on with that plug. I did pick up a temperature electrochromatic mirror a while back out of an Escalade. It’s likely going to be a while before I get around to hooking it up. The rest of the project is in my other thread in the member’s truck forum if you want to read more.
