Hi there, here is the German noob with another strange question:

while bolting on the new AC compressor I saw this strange piece of pipe coming out of the intake manifold right underneath the back end of the AC compressor.

What is this and should there be some piece of tubing attached?

Could be a vacuum port. Is it sucking air? I had a port just like that on my Chrysler 200 that had nothing on it. Wasn't sucking air or making engine run rough. Found it went to air intake tube

That is where the egr tube goes on a 96+. It would go from there to the back of the driver's side exhaust manifold.
Perfectly right.
This car is surprising me every day. Obviously when bolting on the headers the previous owner or the shop didn't care much about the EGR tube. They just left it out. EGR valve is still there and I bet they did not reprogram ECU for EGR bypass. Anyway, I just closed the tube for lack of a better idea.

Thanks for the help!!!
