One thing to note, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but your 0411 was direct from lextech with his "base tune" correct?

I do believe that lextech has his tune for the 5.7 dialed in quite well, so 2500ss could probably run his base tune as is without issues (speculation). A couple of his "base tunes" for the 454s that i have looked at need some tweaking. IMO pay the extra money and get a tuned 0411 from BB, UNLESS you are planning to buy software and tune yourself.

I do not mean this to bash lextech in the least, he pretty clearly states that his tune is a "starter" tune, which i read as requiring tuning after the swap. The work he has done and still does is a great service to those of us that want better computers.

You're correct, it was the "base" tune for a Vortec 454.

I had BB tune my 97 5.7 4l60e. They definitely removed some if not all torque management. It shifts smooth and soft until past half throttle then shifts are firm and quick. I’ve put on over 15k miles since tune, at least 4K of that towing 3500lb enclosed trailer.

Original trans with 210 on the clock. Still going strong. Get a trans temp gauge and put in the pressure test port.

That saved my trans to watch temps when towing. I had the torque converter lockup code come up and fixed the problem with kit that contains oversized o rings and have had problems for last 25k miles.

I would have them set the torque management back to factory ASAP if I were you. I'm surprised you've made it this long. You must not do much hard driving or shifting at WOT.

Around town I drive pretty conservative with the occasional stomping on it.

When towing I’ve had lots of full throttle shifts, especially on long hills. 3 to 2 and 2 to 3.

I thought firmer shifts were better for the trans (less clutch slipping) during shifts?

I’m honestly surprised a stock 4l60e has made it to 210k.

I read the same thing somewhere years ago which is what led me to removing torque management in my tune initially. It may be true to an extent, but I can tell you from experience that removing TM from a 4L60E is a bad idea. There are other ways to increase shift firmness like installing a shift kit and/or bigger servos. Black Bear can increase shift firmness in the tune without altering TM as well, I assume by bumping the line pressure but I'm no expert.

When I had my 93 WT with a 4.3L and a 4l60e, the trans went out @275,000 miles. My 97, Silverado has 245,000 on it with a 5.7L 4L60e still going strong. My 93 was mostly stock with some exhaust mods. My 97 has a lot of little mods somewhere around 325 HP. I have tuned the truck with a Jet programmer set to max performance, and the trans was the biggest improvement. My truck has been tuned for several years. I never had a trans issue. My shifts are firmer now.. I just used the Jet settings for the tune. I did not mess with shift points. You are correct to a point. Long slow shifts are not good for a trans, but if you try to go to extreme with your adjustments, then your asking for trouble IMO. When my trans does go out, I will have a trans shop do a performance build. Kevlor bands and clutches, ECT.

Lextech doesn't really have a base tune for a 454. He must have bits and pieces. He really hasn't run a 454 through the ringer. He is able to take feedback and adapt tunes, but he really doesn't have a plug and play rape tune set to jet.

Hopefully receiving my new fuel tank tomorrow, along with new straps and filler neck. I guess we'll see if the fuel tank was really the culprit for me having to fill up quicker. It did finally give out last week, I lost about 3/4 of a tank of it just sitting (1/4 now, was clear full), wished I would've ordered the tank sooner. Live and learn. :33:

We conversed in e-mails back and forth and he said there was like 14 trucks running that calibration with no issue.
But there was still a few things off about the tune according to Mangonesailor when he was comparing it to the original tune he had for his truck.

I piece mealed mine together and it worked great, so it can totally be done. I just don't think he's had one at his shop to get more deeply involved with.
