Kenny, that looks sweet.

Would you mind sharing your method? I’m a car detailer and dabble in metal polishing, as well. Very interested what you did.

I sanded down the alt and compressor with a small flap wheel on my die grinder. This I used a cotton buff loaded with triipoli. Then, I used a die grinder with another cotton buff loaded with some white jewelers rouge. Then I finished up with some white diamond metal polish. That was done by hand, and took 3 to 4 coats. There are how to videos on you tube. After the white jewelers rouge, it leaves a good shine, but the real trick is the white diamond metal polish. I also like using scott blue paper towles to apply and remove, buff out the white diamond metal polish. This polish will turn black once it is applied. Here are a few videos. and a pic of the flap wheels I used. I used these on a die grinder, but it could be done with a drill.

Here are some pics of the triopli , the buffs, and the white jewelers rouge. It is very important not to mix match your buffs. The buff you use for the triopli, should only be used for that, and the buff you use for the rouge, should only be used for that. Also the tighter the stitching of the buff, the longer it will last, but, a looser or less stitching the better job it will do to give a higher shine. Oh and dont let the size of the pics fool you. The tripoli is just as big of a bar, as the white rouge is, and the buffs are about 3 inches across. Mail order you stuff, and you will get a better product than you can get at harbor freight.

You need to finish up with some white diamond metal polish. That valve cover will look like chrome if you do. It has a sealer in it, so it will last for a while before it needs to be redone.

I want to do the stainless bracket I made for my electric fans, but stainless is harder to polish. Once I do, I will post new pics.

Dang Kenny! That looks sharp! That's way too labor intensive for my engine bay when it spends so much time off road. I love a good clean engine bay and usually keep mine grime free, but that shine is almost too nice to want to close the hood on!

I like it! I have always hated the way that the dull aluminum alternator/AC compressor/AC accumulator looks.

I just couldn't do that. I know I'd spend way too much time doing it, and then be super **** about them getting dirty or becoming dull again. I don't have that kind of time on my hands, but now I at least know what it looks like!
