Strength of IFS ?

It uncommon to have a dana 60 in a 3/4ton chevy square body. They usually have a 10 bolt or a dana 44. The only difference between the half ton vs 3/4 ton is the 8 lug outers vs 6lug. ... there is a substantial differemce in axle stregenth dana 44 vs dana 60.

is the 9.25 a direct replacement for the 8.25? or does the whole front end need changed

Even the mounts in the frame are different. Not saying it can't be done but do you really want to take all the trouble.

Its been years since i thought of doing this. But even the track width, spindles, and such were different. It would be far wasier to get a ford superduty axle set for 300-1000 bucks and do coil or leafs up front.

I plan on doing a SAS next spring. Just thought I'd entertain the idea of saving money. LoL

I did that swap on my 98 from a 3/4 ton truck that my dad got for free. Way better than SAS. Wasn't too hard to do, just time consuming like anything else lol. Would I do it again? Probably not. Frame swap would've been easier, but it's hard to find a ECSB 3/4 ton that is being sold for parts.
