For my future plans I would like to do coil overs in the front of my 1990 SS454 to replace whats there now, about a 4" drop as it sits now.
The rear I would like to do a 4 link with coil overs also.
Has anyone done this and what were your results, good-indifferent-bad-worth it- not worth it ??
I'm looking to improve ride and handling.
Truck is now at about a 4-8 drop
Thanks :)

I put QA1 coilovers up front in my 90 ECSB with 750lb springs and stock UCA/LCA's. I like how it handles so far, although it's still at stock height. Great thing about them is the ability to really dial in the ride height, as there is a lot of adjustment room.

Pros:
*easy to install, even on stock arms
*good adjustability while maintaining spring rate
*you can order springs separately and change them based on your preference. (Call them up, they are great to talk to and will give you good suggestions)
*adjustable dampening
*you can still use them if you switch to coilover LCA's by just removing the T-bar

Cons:
*shock replacement won't be as simple or cheap as the stock setup if you need to replace them or have them rebuilt
*more expensive than lowering springs

Thank you, I appreaite your opinion. Im probably going to do the fronts along with a disc brake set up for the rears. Then research doing the 4 link in the rear before doing it, its pretty costly but the reason I want to do it is I think it will improve whats going on back there now, Its been flipped, has lowering blocks, and also 2" shackles, lots of stuff doing funny stuff. So Im hoping just one suspension item might work better over all. I;m installing a BellTech Anti-sway bar tomorrow with hopes that's improves things, we'll see

If you haven’t already, check out Elevated Concepts. They fabricate some crazy front and rear goodies for gmt400s. They’re even working on a rack and pinion, which I’m REALLY interested in.

Those guys look pretty good. I just put tubular DJM control arms and bilsteins on. I wanted to go coil over but didnt like any of (limited) solutions I saw. I totally would have put their front end on... I am in the same spot as you bobby with the back end. I too am dropped via several kits and am researching a 3 or 4 link solution for the back half.

I have definitely been addressing the issue myself i have even talked to elevated concepts which is just a single guy doing it but if you notice he took everything down from his website to pursue other things he said he will still make something if you need it but its made to order. I actually found a 4 link weld it your self setup that im go with then just fab up my own brackets for some rear coils and just buy the coils at the length i need it be a cheaper route for me i believe.

So to report on the BellTech anti-sway bay, it seems to have cured the ill handling out back, so far anyways so Im pleadsed on that front, Because of being so low I had to modify the end link set up quite a bit.
The next mod will be a plain jane disc brake setup in the rear, nothing fancy just something like the stock front OEM deal, I like the big boys (Wilwood and such) but theyre just too costly for my wallet if you know what I mean.
Then the QA1's for the front, rear will have to wait
Thanks
