they are cheap to just replace. and they are known for going bad. did u check the resistance hot and cold? dont remember the exact values but last time i had them i found them on a google search.

a bad fuel pressure regulator can also cause a rich condition, along with any type of leaking or seepage on the fuel lines.

I checked it at cold then let the truck warm up a little and checked to see if it changed. It changed as it warmed so I was thinking it's ok. I'll probably just replace it anyway later on. Found these on here I think.

yea thats the chart i used. does the truck idle poorly almost right away? or does it take a little bit of driving for it to happen? i have seen EGR valves that get stuck open and cause a leak, cause the pintle gets all caked up with carbon. i would stark looking for vacuum leaks.

i know u said u replaced the fuel pump twice. im assuming you replaced the filter too? did you ever put a fuel pressure gauge on it?

When I first crank it, and it's idled up, it seems to run fine. No gas smell or light smoke. After it idles down is when it smells. When I turn the a.c. on it seems to get worse and lightly smokes. I haven't really driven it other than around the yard to test out the clutch.

Yep I replaced the filter with the first pump. I was thinking vacuum leak also cause it sat up for years. I haven't checked fuel pressure, no gauage, I did pull the filter off and both injectors looked to be ok.

put a vacuum gauge on it, when its idling rough. should be around 18 - 20hg with a stock cam. its been a while but i think i used the canister purge valve fitting on the tbi to test vacuum. turning the AC puts a good load on the engine, so it should make the problem worse. when you looked at the spray pattern did you use a timing light? any way you can get a video of it running? does the smoke smell sweet like antifreeze?

No I didn't use a timing light, I don't have one or a vacuum gauge. I can get a video of it running. The smoke smells more like gas. I haven't put the shifter boot on yet and it really smells like gas on the inside while it's running.

The egr valve seemed to be stuck I finally freed it by hand. I took it off and pressed the diaphragm in and covered the hole but it wouldn't hold.

if the egr is not staying closed during normal operation then that could be your issue. you could block it off to test it with a block off plate.if you still can get a video send it to my email, i could help better.
