They're dot and sae stamped .

Doesn't mean much with Chinese aftermarket parts, unfortunately. Pretty much every Chinese made headlight assembly is stamped DOT and SAE, most of them aren't actually compliant. It has to do with international laws. The Chinese are pretty much exempt from dealing with consumer lawsuits over products sold here, so they don't care at all what stamps or certifications are molded into the lenses. If it will make the product sell better, they'll stamp it on there. American manufacturers who make aftermarket headlights for big trucks like you mentioned (TruckLite, GE, JW Speaker, etc.) are all based here, so if they screw up they're liable by law. Their compliance stamps actually mean something.

I highly doubt you'd ever be hassled over it, but Hobbs is right. Those circular reflector LED lights definitely aren't legal for road use.

I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. I'm not concerned about getting hassled, more with being to bright for other drivers.

You're welcome!

You're right to be concerned. Personally if it were my truck I'd take them off immediately for exactly that reason. It's not even that they're "too bright" necessarily, it's that they put the brightness where it's not supposed to be. You want something with a solid cut-off line that keeps light output below a certain height when your low beams are on. The style of reflector that your headlights have just will not do that.

If you like the quad beam look, lmc housings with 9005/9006 bulbs, or modified 9011/9012 bulbs are easy solutions. Good lighting isn’t cheap. I Highly recommend making or buying a hd relayed harness that takes the load off of the headlight switch and uses larger gauge wiring. There are a few diagrams and threads on this site about it.

I do like the quad lights. I've got these set up using harnesses and controlling them with the factory switch. I'll check out the lmc housing.

After hitting a raccoon in my car and numerous close calls with deers in it I can't take horrible lighting anymore.

You've obviously never been a part of the discussions in which we all bash on LED lights in halogen enclosures. LOL

I wouldn’t say all LEDs..just 90 percent of the ones people buy at autozone, etc. Alot of people spend the least amount possible and don’t think there is anything wrong with that...my wife would disagree after an incident last year from a brodozer, and a frickin jeep I encounter on a daily basis. Even the popular auxbeam has a shady cut off line (but at least they have the idea of one).

I recently purchased a set of Morimoto 2 stroke LEDs in an h4 setup for my bosch e code lenses (unobtanium). I still need to install them and will post results. If the optics aren’t great in the low beam setup, I’ll use them for a high beam application only. Plan was to use hid, but there is a delay when going to high beam which isn’t ideal. Phillips also makes some great LEDs for headlights..but they have done the research. You’re gonna spend 150+ for a set of lows in led land.
