I got a 94 burb with a stock 454 and i wanna re do my exhaust. The sound i’m looking for in a muffler is like a deep like a smooth purr/growl not like the crackly obnoxious sound. Don’t get me wrong i love that the sound of a crackly beefy v8 but on trucks. Just doesn’t fit on a burb if ya ask me. I also don’t plan on running a cat in the new system.

A Magnaflow muffler will fit the bill for what you're going after, they're straight through mufflers but very mild,

Just about any "turbo-style" muffler will fit the bill. Sound will vary by manufacturer and type/length.
I use a cheap knockoff muffler with no cat, can't remember brand .... Stock pipe, not a dual setup.

It's a little louder than the video shows.....

I chose to go the "cheap" route to sort of "test" whether I liked the louder sound. I do. Enough so, I probably won't do a true dual set up. .. .. at least for a while.
Cheap and effective (for sound).

We got a 1991 k3500 with a 454 for the farm it had a rusted out choke master.
I had a stock muffler off a 2004 Z71 and we took the cat off the 454 and welded in the stock z71 muffler. It sounded really good for a factory muffler. But no tone your looking for.

I like the sound of that; does it drone at all in the cab?

There is noticeable sound in cab without the radio on. Really depends on how far you mash the go pedal. I do not think it is bothersome.

Really noticeable with the windows down next to a concrete barrier.

I'm not at home this week, I'll get more in-cab video when I get home next weekend.

Just thought I’d share this fun story pertaining to 454 exhausts:

My dad worked for a GM dealer in the 90s. From 92-98 to be exact. They had a farm service shop that ordered K3500s and would take off the stock exhaust and put on a John Deere 4020 exhaust on it, so the big stack and turn down like the tractors had, they would just dump it before the rear end. He said it sounded “not terrible.” He worked on them a couple of times.

Flo F/X is a flowmaster knock off, hell of alot cheaper, they sould pretty good. Last time I checked they were aboot $35, couple years ago. Lil more pricey but I have Borla on my Tundra. Pro-XS I think it's called. My exhaust rusted off at the mufflers, and it has a drone but not too bad. FYI, if you want to get rid of the rasp, put some large diameter tips on it. I had a 97 2500HD with a 454, had Flowmaster 2 chambers on it, full dual 2 1/2" out the back. It was ****** LOUD!! And had a really raspy sound, I didn't like it, was actually too loud. I put some 4"x24" tips on it, after that I had many comments on how it sounded. It was deep, throaty, sounded insane. Would set car alarms off too haha.
