I would like to challenge youall to recomend a manual transmission for a c2500 or c3500 gmt400.
First i dont want to discuss the fact that i am a nut for desiring such a transmission. I already know i am nuts.
Here are my specs it needs:
narrow gear steps,
as many gears as posible,
To fit under a largely unmodified chevy truck or suburban body, (within reason a little engineers hammer persuasion would be ok just no building a new transmission tunnel)
To mate up too a small block chevy or ls engine with out requiring a $500+ adapter,
To be known for long service life 500,000+ mile prefered,
To be available in the usa

You might take a look at 4btswaps.com. Some of those guys use an Eaton manual behind their engines. It's a big OD transmission without being absolutely huge...not sure how many gears it has.

Find an 18-wheeler junkyard and swap out a 16-speed hi/lo

while your at it, swap the Detroit Diesel in front of it too!!
A detroit would suit me fine. Just way more power than i need.
