Hollow. That last 1/16" of an inch probably isn't worth the price. That Ridetech bar costs more than the front and rear Belltech bars put together.
Yea, I agree. The weight savings would be great but I'm compromising that just because of the price point.

I'll gladly take more weight up front, the camper and trailer hike the nose up pretty good. I've got to wonder if a solid bar even of the same diameter is significantly stiffer than an identical hollow variant? I wish the rates were readily available.

It's not really like a world of a difference in weight but a hollow bar is typically lighter.

From what I understand, a solid sway bar is stiffer than a hollow sway bar if the diameters are the same for example. Typically, hollow bars are sold in a bigger diameter compared to a solid one, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's stiffer.

There are a lot of calculators online that will at least give you a ballpark though, like this one:

Have you had any issues with a hard brake pedal after spinning the rear tires? When I accelerate hard out of a corner and my one-legged dog brakes loose a little bit, if I have to get hard on the brakes quickly I don’t have any... just a hard pedal for a second before it actually compressed and gives me brake. Didn’t know if this was a crappy antilock brake issue or something else all together?

Thanks,
Rob

This looks like an absolute blast, and I see you're in McKinney. I live about 20 minutes away, so what's the scoop on this autocross stuff? I got a 2017 Mazda 3 that I've been dying to do this with for awhile now.

Oh yea, it really is! It's exciting to see how you and your vehicle stacks up against the competition, not to mention being in a controlled environment where you can go balls-to-the-wall without having to worrying about hitting anything else but cones (and corner workers lol).

If you're really interested bring it on by to an event! Here's a link to a calendar for all the DFW area autocrosses: http://www.dfwautocross.com

I've actually done quite a bit of suspension work on a MS3 and autocrossed one, they can be pretty quick! You should definetly try it out, pretty certain you wouldn't be disappointed [emoji1690]

Basically an autocross is held in a large parking lot with a cone obstacle course that's tight and windy. Depending on what you have, you get placed in a class with similar performing cars so the playing field is level. Then it's fastest time gets first place and you typically get a trophy if you do!

Sundays autocross was a success!!

Check out the videos and subscribe:

Both videos are of the same run, my fastest of the day. I placed 13th/18, there was a lot of competition. Pretty happy with how I placed considering that my truck only makes 185HP/285TQ (back in '89 when it was new) and everyone else had at least over 300HP!

My buddy's GMT800 truck failed tech because it was 1.5" too tall compared to its track width so he co-drove my truck instead. The truck did so well, even running twice as much as it would have along with both of us getting re-runs.

Enjoy the pics too!

Look at that outside front tire perpendicular to the ground and the inside tire barely touching! Almost at 100% mechanical grip [emoji41] Front springs and sway bars may get me there. Then time for some power and aero.

Btw, scored these heads from work too so gotta figure out if I want to put those on the truck or build the one I have on the stand..

Casting number is 3998993, they're not like super sought after heads but they're much better than what's on the truck now and free so that's that lol.

Really looking forward to building some tri-Y headers once these get on, exhaust fabrication is one of my top favorite things to build.

Here's my most recent pair of headers for an LS3 Nash Metropolitan we're building at work.

Better tires alone would make a huge difference. And send you scrambling to add camber and/or reduce roll with those stiffer springs. What are the odds you throw bigger rims at it so you can run some better meat? Those tiny tread blocks must deform like crazy under the weight of the truck. By the looks of things, you have the skills and knowledge to make this truck haul some serious ass.

I agree on the tires. The reason I went with this wheel and tire combo is because it fit my budget. All in all, wheels and tires cost me under $800. The wheels were like $65/ea.

I picked the 15x10 with the 295/50/15 because it was the widest set-up I can afford at the moment (I'm just a humble fabricator..). I'm limited to like four different street tires in that size but I may look into some NASCAR/oval track slicks or something if I really want to get a sticky tire, but then again, this is way down the road. Ultimately, I'd love to run like 18x12's with like 345's or something but that's all really high dollar stuff (I can dream though!).

As for these Hankook Ventus H101 tires, they are surprisingly grippy for what they are! The tire compound is really soft. I mean it doesn't take much effort to really get your thumbnail into the rubber. I actually really like them so far. I had the Cooper Cobra tires in a much smaller size (255/60/15) so I can't really 100% say they're better without really comparing same sizes.

And thanks, I appreciate that! I'm having so much fun with the truck and that's what it's all about. I hope more trucks find their way to autocrosses because they can actually shine here outside of drag racing and street rides.
